The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is the first, the largest and the most diversified member of the IIT family and is the leading technological university of India. Apart from engineering and basic sciences, the Institute offers programs in architecture, management, law, medical sciences and the liberal arts. About half of its 12000 strong student body are undergraduates, the rest are split equally among masters and doctoral courses. Our full-time faculty strength is about 700, and we have more than a 100 international faculty members visiting and offering short courses every year. We have students and scholars visiting us from all over the world – both for short-term coursework/research and degree programs.

In line with our objective to reach out to the ASEAN, we are pleased to announce the Call for Application for ASEAN- India Research Training Fellowship (AIRTF) 2019-20.
This fellowship program of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as its implementation partner aims at enabling young researchers from ASEAN member states to carry out research at an Indian host research/academic Institution. This flagship program is a fully funded scheme under which fifty (50) ASEAN researchers holding at least a Master’s degree are selected every year to undertake a research project for a period of two (02) to six (06) months at IIT Kharagpur in all areas of Science and Technology. We welcome applications from your students and encourage their participation in this research opportunity.
We are sure that the AIRTF programme will be highly beneficial for the young ASEAN researchers of your Institute and would provide them an excellent opportunity to gather expertise from our acclaimed faculty members along with gaining hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art research facilities.
