FTUI and FT UNEJ Discuss Institutional Governance and Tracer Study in a Benchmarking Visit

On Wednesday (01/02) the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received a visit from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Jember (FTUNEJ). The activities carried out are benchmarking with several agendas in it, namely discussing faculty-level institutional governance, international accreditation, quality assurance, and tracer studies.

At the beginning of the discussion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Deputy Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs FTUI explained various things about FTUI, starting from study programs to both national and international rankings. It was also conveyed that FTUI is now ranked 1st nationally based on the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2023 (THE WUR).

The FTUI explained the mechanism for awarding scholarships at UI. “In general, scholarships are managed centrally by the UI rectorate through the Student Affairs directorate and socialized through scholarship.ui.ac.id and UI Student IG and FTUI Student Affairs IG. FTUI also supports and disseminates scholarships specifically targeted to FTUI students, such as scholarships from the Mata Air Biru Foundation (MAB) and scholarships originating from engineering companies,” explained Prof. Yanuar.

FTUI also conveyed forms of support from the Dean for student activities, such as routine financial assistance for the operation of student organizations, and financial assistance for national and international competitions. In addition, the Dean also actively conducts routine assistance by supporting special accompanying lecturers who are assigned to student organizations and or achievement competitions.

Finally, FTUI shared various experiences regarding the effective and efficient implementation of tracer studies. FTUI’s trace study can achieve up to 88% due to good collaboration between FTUI and the Ui Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations as the implementer of the tracer study at the university level.

“We hope that this meeting can be followed up by the collaboration between FTUI and FTUNEJ. One of them is the provision of a fast track program, where students complete their Bachelors at FTUNEJ and Masters at FTUI,” said the Dean of FTUI at the end of the meeting.
