FTUI Once Again Received the Best Sustainable Faculty Award for Environmental Management

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, won another award as the Most Sustainable Faculty within the Universitas Indonesia at the UI GreenMetric 2022 Faculty Ranking award. This award is proof that FT UI is a faculty with the best commitment to environmental management within the Universitas Indonesia for five consecutive years ( 2018-2022). The second rank was won by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the third rank was given to the Faculty of Psychology as the best continuing faculty.

UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2022 announced a ranking award in the field of sustainability for Indonesian and international levels, on Monday (12/12) at the UI Convention Center, Depok Campus, and broadcast on UI’s official YouTube. For the Indonesian level, the Universitas Indonesia (UI) won the title of Best Sustainable Campus, with Diponegoro University in second place, and Gadjah Mada University in third place.

UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., appreciated the UI GreenMetric ranking, which came from UI and has gone global as it is today. “This year the teaching and learning process has been running extensively, again utilizing campus infrastructure. Various innovations have been made by adjusting new habits to make them cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable. The management of tertiary institutions to become centers for the realization of a green economy continues to be carried out. The impact of campus activities on the environment, social, and economy of the community is pursued in many programs initiated by lecturers. Cooperation between universities in the world and Indonesia can be seen from the enthusiasm to participate in this ranking and carry out transformations on their campuses.

“This year FTUI is continuing the winning tradition by winning five years in a row as the faculty with the best environmental management commitment at UI. This year, FT obtained a total score of 8,150. This award proves that FTUI does not only focus on education, research, and community service but also a commitment to the sustainability of the earth. A good work environment and facilities, as well as a pleasant green campus, will ultimately encourage the performance and spirit of innovation from FTUI residents,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU regarding FTUI’s achievements.

UI GreenMetric is the only international university ranking made by Indonesian universities. The event was attended by Plt. Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng.; Director General of Climate Change Control, Ir. Laksmi Dwanthi, M.A .; University Secretary, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. err. nat. Abdul Haris; Deputy Chancellor for HR and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA., and Prof. Dr. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc., M.M. (Head of UI GreenMetric) who initiated UI GreenMetric 13 years ago.

UI GreenMetric is a UI innovation that is widely recognized internationally as the world’s first higher education ranking based on its high commitment to campus environmental management. Now, UI GreenMetric of World Universities is increasingly global and is increasingly being followed by universities in various countries.

This year, the number of participants reached 1050 universities from 85 countries in the world, an increase from the previous (2021) as many as 956 universities from 80 countries. In Indonesia, 126 universities have participated in UI GreenMetric. The UI GreenMetric 2021 assessment is based on three pillars, namely Environment, Economy, and Social with the weight of the assessment indicators consisting of Campus Condition and Infrastructure (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste Management (18%), Utilization Water (10%), Transportation (18%), and Education and Research (18%).
