Maintenance of Infrastructure Programme

Maintenance of Infrastructure Programme
22 – 25 July 2019, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I am pleased to announce that the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC) in collaboration with IEM Training Centre Sdn. Bhd. (IEMTC) will be conducting the following programme:

  1. a)Forum on Maintenance of Infrastructure, 22 July 2019, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The main objective of this forum is to impress upon the global development community the urgent need to devote resources for maintenance of infrastructure and the related human resource and institutional capacity building in South countries. This need is made more urgent due to infrastructure asset design and construction becoming increasingly hi-tech due to Industry 4.0 and related digital technologies. There is also the requirement to assure that the tertiary education qualifications for engineers, technologists and technicians in South countries are accredited to acceptable international standards.

  1. b)Training Workshop on Maintenance of Infrastructure for Developing Countries, 23 – 25 July 2019, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The main objective of this training workshop is to provide participants with the knowledge and learning experiences in the planning, management and implementation of infrastructure maintenance. Infrastructure maintenance will sustain the life of major assets. When provided too soon or too late, it will incur unnecessary costs, compromise safety and the asset’s economic life span.

I have the honour to invite your organization to nominate participant/s to attend this forum and training workshop. The participant/s nominated should be:

  • Policy makers who are involved in policy, planning, budgeting and managing the infrastructure maintenance in their countries;
  • Holding a senior position and having an engineering degree and who is responsible for planning and execution of maintenance of infrastructure at national level.
  • Have a good command of English and in good health.

The local organiser of the programme will pay the cost of local hospitality (accommodation and meals). The air-fare of participants from your country to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has to be paid by the participants themselves.

I would appreciate it very much if you can forward the nomination of participant from your organization using the link below:
