EUBCE 2019 in Lisbon

On 27-30 May Lisbon will be the centre of biomass innovation, the place for sharing experience and presenting innovative technologies that will be part of tomorrow’s energy portfolio, for networking in the biomass sector. The global biomass community from 71 nations already confirmed, will gather at the Lisbon Congress Centre for the EUBCE 2019 – 27th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition to conduct business, to network and to present and discuss the latest developments and innovations in biomass. It is the world-renowned science-to-science and science-to-industry platform with a full and only focus on the global biomass sector.

This is Europe’s largest biomass gathering event with 83 conference sessions, more than 50 international exhibitorsparallel events organized with major international organisations and offering a deep insight into specific topics along the most recent technology, market and business trends, and networking opportunities. The Conference will be a good opportunity to learn about the value of residual biomass of forests, to help to prevent forest fires.

The theme of this year’s event is “The role of biomass in delivering the Paris targets and supporting sustainable development goals“. To discuss this topic, a roundtable discussion on 27 May will bring together senior representatives from national government, the European Commission, NGOs and industry.

The complete conference programme, coordinated by the European Commission, with more than 1,000 presentations, will cover the entire range of biomass research, technologies and applications, focusing on the latest scientific, technological and market-related trends and will provide an overview on the latest R&D in biomass technology from the leading global researchers of institutes, universities and biomass companies. The EUBCE thus strengthens its established leading role in science and technology among the players of the global biomass sector.

On 29 May the European Commission is organizing the event Paving the way towards clean energy and fuels in Europe – Talks with research, industry and EU Member States on bioenergy, advanced biofuels and renewable fuels. This research policy workshop will focus on how to move forward the innovation chain in the EU for bioenergy, advanced biofuels and renewable fuels, contributing to the clean energy transformation in energy and transport, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the EU Communication “Clean Planet for All”.

EUBCE will also host regional workshops, outlining the situation for biomass in countries like Brazil, Japan, Africa, and others. Check the parallel events to get the updated agenda. At the same time, the exhibition will provide an opportunity to connect with the key players and to meet different target groups: the global biomass community, from science and industry, the global innovators in these challenging times full of new opportunities. The Portuguese government welcomes EUBCE as renewable energy is a top priority for Portugal and biomass is a crucial to fight climate change.
