FTUI Explores Academic Collaboration with University College London

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) continues to strengthen its international network through an academic collaboration with University College London (UCL) on Wednesday (12/11). The FTUI delegation was led by the Manager of Partnership and International Education, Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., along with the international cooperation development team.

During the meeting, FTUI presented various academic programs ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels, as well as its commitment to expanding international pathways for students. UCL and FTUI discussed several potential forms of collaboration, including the development of a 3+1+1 progression model, which consists of three years of study at FTUI, one year at UCL as an affiliate student, and one year as a master’s student leading to an MSc degree from UCL. This program requires students to have a minimum GPA of 3.3.

Both parties also explored opportunities for joint delivery programs at the master’s level and a dual PhD program to strengthen research collaboration.

During the visit, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. emphasized that this collaboration is a strategic step to enhance the global competitiveness of FTUI graduates. “Collaboration with UCL opens new pathways for our students to gain academic and research experience in a highly competitive and international environment. This is a significant investment in their future and in the development of the faculty as a whole.”

Meanwhile, representatives from UCL’s Faculty of Engineering Sciences expressed similar enthusiasm. “We see FTUI as a partner with great potential for developing academic and research collaborations. The 3+1+1 scheme and other collaborative programs will enrich our international ecosystem and create new opportunities for knowledge exchange between institutions.”

As an initial follow-up, FTUI and UCL have set student mobility as a top priority through student exchange programs for short-term study, research, and credit transfer.
