On Thursday, August 17, 2023, Indonesia commemorated its 78th independence day with renewed vigour and determination under the theme \u201cMoving Forward for Advanced Indonesia\u201d. The Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) also celebrated this historic moment by holding a flag ceremony held at the FTUI Deanery building. The flag ceremony was attended by nearly 200 FTUI academicians consisting of lecturers, education staff, and students.<\/p>\n
The flag ceremony took place solemnly beginning with the raising of the Red and White flag led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., as Deputy Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs. In his speech as the master of ceremonies, Prof. Yanuar highlighted three main points that became the foundation of Indonesia\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy this year\u2019s theme, to achieve an advanced Indonesia, there are several things we must do. First, education must be a top priority by presenting quality that can produce the next generation that is smart, innovative, and impactful in facing future challenges. Secondly, let us maintain our health and improve our quality of life so that we can work better,\u201d said Prof. Yanuar.<\/p>\n
Finally, Prof. Yanuar talked about the economic sector that must continue to be empowered by supporting businesses and entrepreneurs in developing Indonesia\u2019s economic potential. He believes that a strong economy can reduce poverty and create jobs to create economic stability in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
On a separate occasion, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST, M.Eng, IPU, Dean of FTUI, emphasized the important values that must be strengthened in this independence celebration. \u201cIndependence celebration is a momentum to strengthen togetherness and determination in building the nation. Let us improve our quality, become excellent people and have a positive impact on Indonesia. Together, we will keep moving forward for a more advanced and stronger Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
With the spirit of commemorating independence, the FTUI academic community united to realize the vision of Indonesia. The theme \u201cKeep Going for Advanced Indonesia\u201d is a reminder to all that independence is not only a day of commemoration but also a commitment to continue to fight and work for the progress of the Indonesian nation.<\/p>\n
