During the internship, students will gain valuable experience in Japan’s engineering and construction industries, guided by Indonesian employees working at T-Mec to help ease the adaptation process. The internship will provide allowances, and T-Mec will cover accommodation costs.

Additionally, students will participate in a student exchange program at Ehime University, where they will attend courses in Regional Resilience. Although this program is not part of the credit-earning scheme, participants will receive a certificate as proof of participation. Students joining this program must meet basic requirements, including at least an N4 level in Japanese, and will be supported by mentors to ensure smooth adaptation during the program.

“Ehime University, located on Shikoku Island, Japan, is a university with seven faculties established in 1949. Together with T-Mec Holdings, which operates in construction and manufacturing, we are offering a three-month internship program scheduled to take place in the summer, from June to August,” stated Akihiko Matsuoka, President and Representative Director of T-Mec Group.

On a separate occasion, FTUI Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, stated that this program will strengthen ties between Indonesia and Japan through education and industry collaboration. “We hope FTUI students will take advantage of this opportunity to study in Japan and broaden their international experiences. After graduation, they may also have opportunities to pursue careers in Japan,” said Prof. Heri.

Prof. Mahmud noted that FTUI and Ehime University are also in the process of drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Agreement of Intent (AoI) to reinforce this commitment. This collaboration is expected to serve as a foundation for broader future partnerships, not only in internship programs but also in joint research and technology development in engineering.

Also present at the meeting were Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of FTUI International Office; Kristanti Dewi Paramita, S.Ars., M.A., Ph.D., Secretary of the FTUI Architecture Department; and delegates from Ehime University and T-Mec Holdings, including Sondang Megawati Simorangkir, Fathan Abdillah Iskandar Muda, Abdul Kadir Alhamid, Daisuke Shiba, and Julia Hockey.

***

Public Communication Office
Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a visit from Ehime University and T-Mec Holdings on Thursday, October 17.
