His dissertation was presented at the FTUI Doctoral Promotion Open Defense on Thursday (26\/2) in an offline session at the Smart Meeting Room, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Through his doctoral research titled<\/span> <em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Conversion of Sago Waste into Renewable Energy by Adding Al\u2082O\u2083 as a Catalyst Through Top-Lit Updraft Gasification,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><\/em> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Yohanis introduces an innovative approach to biomass waste utilization for sustainable energy. The gasification technology developed in his research enables the conversion of sago waste into high-quality synthetic gas (syngas), which can <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be used<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> as an environmentally friendly alternative energy source.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;I<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ndonesia has vast biomass potential, including sago waste, which has not yet <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">been optimally utilized<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Through this research, I aim to prove that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">sago waste can be converted<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> into renewable energy with greater efficiency using Al\u2082O\u2083-based catalytic gasification technology. It <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is hoped<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that this innovation can support the transition to clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">said Yohanis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation, saying,<\/span> <em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I highly appreciate <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Yohanis\u2019<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> efforts and dedication in this research. Utilizing biomass waste as an alternative energy source is a concrete step in addressing sustainability challenges. We hope this research can continue to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be developed<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and open opportunities for collaboration with the industry for broader implementation<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Yohanis successfully defended his dissertation with a <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">cum laude<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> distinction, earning a GPA of 3.88. He became the 114th Doctor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the 594th Doctor within the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The doctoral promotion session was chaired by Prof. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., with Prof. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Ir. Adi Surjosatyo, M.Sc., as the Promoter, and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Ir. Cahyadi, M.Komp., as the Co-Promoter.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> The examination committee included Prof. Dr. Ir. Yulianto Sulistyo Nugroho, Ph.D., M.Sc., Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Kartika, Dipl. Ing., Prof. Dr. Ir. Warjito, M.Sc., Ahmad Syihan Auzani, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Ir.
