Aprilia Sarah Kristina, a postgraduate student from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), has been selected as the sole representative of UI in the prestigious international program TWINCLE-JASSO (Twin College Envoys Program<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>Japan Student Services Organization) held at Chiba University, Japan. The program <\/span>took place over<\/span> 15 days, from February 5 to 20, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The TWINCLE-JASSO program is one of the international collaboration initiatives to strengthen academic and research networks between Japan and Southeast Asian countries. Selected students can engage in collaborative research, scientific presentations, and cultural exchange in an international educational environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aprilia represented FTUI alongside students from other leading Indonesian universities such as ITB, UGM, IPB, and UPI, each <\/span>coming from<\/span> diverse academic backgrounds. During the program, Aprilia was actively involved in experiments and research activities at the Electrical Engineering<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>Electromedical Laboratory at Chiba University.<\/span> She also presented her research several times to professors and students from the host university.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her research focused on developing a noninvasive sensor-based electromedical system with significant potential for real-time patient health monitoring applications. Chiba University academics appreciated her innovative work for its relevance to future challenges in healthcare technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been an incredibly valuable experience for me as an Electrical Engineering student. In addition to deepening my technical understanding through hands-on research and experiments, I also learned a lot about Japanese culture and the academic work ethic in an international setting,\u201d Aprilia said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., also expressed his appreciation for Aprilia\u2019s achievement. \u201cWe are very proud of Aprilia\u2019s accomplishment. Her participation in the TWINCLE-JASSO program demonstrates the quality of FTUI\u2019s postgraduate students <\/span>who are<\/span> ready to compete internationally. <\/span>This<\/span> also opens up opportunities for further academic and research collaboration between UI and institutions in Japan,\u201d he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Supported by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), the TWINCLE-JASSO program regularly invites students from Asian countries to participate in intensive research activities and cultural exchange. With a spirit of cross-country collaboration, the program aims to nurture a new generation of globally minded young researchers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In closing, Aprilia expressed her gratitude to Universitas Indonesia and Chiba University for the trust and opportunity given. \u201cThis experience will continue to motivate me to keep innovating and to prove that opportunities can come from anywhere. As long as we are not afraid to take the first step, every small step can begin a big change,\u201d she concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n
