Representatives from the SPE UI SC team, consisting of students from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), have once again made their mark by securing top positions in a national-level competition. Three teams from FTUI successfully brought home awards in the <\/span>Well Stimulation Case Competition<\/span><\/em> and <\/span>Paper Poster Competition<\/span><\/em>, both part of the <\/span>Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade (OGIP) 2025<\/span><\/em>. The competition <\/span>was organized<\/span> by the Petroleum Engineering Student Association of UPN \u201cVeteran\u201d Yogyakarta on May 10\u201311, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carrying the theme <\/span>\u201cFoster the Potential to Secure the National Energy Prospect,\u201d<\/span><\/em> OGIP 2025 attracted dozens of teams from various universities across Indonesia. The competition aimed to promote innovation and strategic solutions in addressing the future challenges of the energy sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team Intertwined, composed of Farrel Musyaffa Ardian <\/span>(Chemical Engineering 2023)<\/span>, Wilson Marcelieno Susilo <\/span>(Bioprocess Engineering 2023)<\/span>, and Dian Novita Kusumawati <\/span>(Chemical Engineering 2023)<\/span>, won 1st Place in the <\/span>Well Stimulation Case Competition<\/span><\/em> with their project titled <\/span>\u201cApplying Acid Fracturing in Well XX: A Strategic Approach to Productivity Enhancement.\u201d<\/span><\/em> Their solution focused on improving well productivity through acid fracturing techniques, resulting in a simulated increase in oil flow rate by 573% and a productivity index improvement of 593.94%.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe aim to demonstrate that a precise, data-driven technical approach can significantly enhance energy production efficiency. Through this project, we want to show that innovation in upstream oil and gas is still highly viable for development by the younger generation,\u201d<\/span><\/em> said Farrel Musyaffa Ardian, representing Team Intertwined.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team Reactus, consisting of Dhelia Setyo Putri, Rasiendriya Sajna Rafi Nugroho, and Farhan Hasan (all from Chemical Engineering 2023), claimed 1st Place in the <\/span>Paper Poster Competition<\/span><\/em>. Their project proposed a technology-based solution to address lost circulation during oil well drilling by integrating IoT-enabled NMR with the CatBoost model. The method achieved high accuracy with an R\u00b2 value of 89.68% and a low RMSE (0.305), reducing error deviation by 55% compared to conventional methods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this project, we want to highlight that integrating technologies such as IoT and machine learning can offer real solutions to long-standing challenges in the oil and gas industry. Innovation begins with the courage to explore new approaches,\u201d<\/span><\/em> said Dhelia Setyo Putri, representing Team Reactus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team Nikephoros, comprising Tani Setyawan Darren Nugroho, Arsya Arafa Hadaya, and Rizal Arif Wibisana (all from Chemical Engineering 2023), secured 2nd Runner-Up in the <\/span>Paper Poster Competition<\/span><\/em> with their project titled <\/span>\u201cTechno-Economic Analysis of Integrating Geothermal Energy with Hot Compressed Water in Oil Refineries in Balikpapan, Indonesia.\u201d<\/span><\/em> The team presented a geothermal integration strategy to improve the energy efficiency of oil upgrading processes at refineries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the future of the energy industry lies in the integration of renewable energy sources. With this project, we aimed to demonstrate that geothermal energy is not only sustainable but also technically and economically feasible for application in refineries,\u201d<\/span><\/em> said Tani Setyawan Darren Nugroho, representing Team Nikephoros.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe success of these three FTUI teams reflects the academic excellence and innovative spirit of our students. We are proud of their contributions in developing solutions that are not only competitive but also impactful for the national energy sector. This achievement reaffirms FTUI\u2019s role in preparing future engineers who are ready to compete and provide solutions to future energy challenges,\u201d<\/span><\/em> stated Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FTUI.<\/span><\/p>\n
