The event was attended by 74 students from three study programs under DIK: Energy System Engineering (TSE), the Professional Engineer Program (PPI), and Urban and Regional Planning (PWK). PSAD serves as an orientation series designed to introduce new students to the department’s structure and academic system.

The event began with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA, Head of the Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering, who presented the organizational structure of DIK and the department’s strategic role in addressing the increasingly complex challenges of the future. The event was attended by students from various cohorts and study programs within DIK, along with faculty members and academic staff. In his remarks, Prof. Widodo emphasized that PSAD is not only an introduction to academic processes but also a means to instill a collaborative learning culture—one of the hallmarks of DIK, “As an educational platform that embraces interdisciplinarity, we aim to build a synergistic academic system. Through PSAD, we hope to strengthen students’ understanding of cross-disciplinary flexibility and productive collaboration,” said Prof. Widodo.

The event continued with a symbolic welcoming ceremony for new students, marked by the presentation of the Yellow Jacket (Jakun) to three student representatives from each program: Angga Reksa (TSE), Assyifa Nadifah (PPI), and Advia Fildzah (PWK). This symbolic act officially marked the beginning of the students’ academic journey in DIK FTUI. The event concluded with a group photo session, followed by inaugural lectures and sharing sessions conducted separately by each study program.

During PSAD, students were introduced to key academic aspects, including program structure, course registration procedures, disciplinary pathway options, and research and project management mechanisms that emphasize integrative approaches across engineering fields.

FTUI Dean, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the second PSAD, highlighting it as a consistent effort to strengthen DIK’s academic system, “PSAD DIK reflects FTUI’s commitment to fostering an academic environment that embraces interdisciplinarity and adapts to industrial development. I believe DIK students possess the unique potential to become future leaders of innovation,” said Prof. Kemas.

With the successful implementation of this second PSAD, DIK FTUI continues to strengthen its foundation in building an interdisciplinary academic community—diverse yet cohesive. DIK FTUI remains committed to producing graduates who are adaptive, creative, and well-prepared to face the complex challenges of the future.

***

Public Communication Office
Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia

The Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering (DIK) at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), held its second Departmental Academic System Orientation (PSAD) since being established as the eighth department within FTUI (August 13).
