Jauzak completed his doctoral studies in the Electrical Engineering Study Program with a perfect GPA of 4.00 (Summa Cum Laude). He is recorded as the 195th Doctor of the Electrical Engineering Study Program and the 651st Doctor of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>At the open doctoral promotion examination held at FTUI on January 29, Jauzak successfully defended his dissertation entitled \u201cDevelopment of an Intelligent Reputation-Based Blockchain Consensus Algorithm Using Federated Learning and Multi-Level Hashing Mechanisms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his research, Jauzak highlighted the limitations of widely used blockchain consensus algorithms. Performance-based consensus mechanisms such as Proof of Work (PoW) are known to be energy-intensive, while reputation-based mechanisms like Proof of Stake (PoS) are more energy-efficient but remain vulnerable to monopoly attacks and tend to have relatively weaker block binding.<\/p>\n<p>To address these challenges, the study proposes a novel approach by integrating a lightweight deep learning model to determine blockchain node reputation, trained using federated learning to ensure that the learning process remains decentralized. \u201cIn addition, this dissertation introduces a multi-level hashing mechanism as an alternative to conventional mining through a collaborative approach, enabling strong block binding without excessive energy consumption,\u201d explained Jauzak.<\/p>\n<p>Evaluation results show that the proposed consensus algorithm demonstrates greater resilience to monopoly attacks compared to PoS and PoW, with a more evenly distributed leader selection and improved energy efficiency through the application of federated learning over centralized mechanisms. These contributions strengthen the development of fully decentralized, energy-efficient blockchain consensus mechanisms that maintain data integrity, while also opening opportunities for more sustainable blockchain applications across various sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this research, I hope that blockchain technology can be developed in a more equitable, energy-efficient, and relevant manner to meet the needs of future digital systems,\u201d said Jauzak.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the achievement. \u201cThis dissertation reflects the quality of FTUI\u2019s doctoral research, which is not only academically rigorous but also addresses real challenges in digital technology and sustainability,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The research findings were presented during the open doctoral promotion examination chaired by Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., as Chair of the Examination, with Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.M., M.Sc., IPU., as the Promoter, and Dr. Ir. Muhammad Salman, S.T., M.I.T., as Co-Promoter. The board of examiners consisted of Prof. Evangelos Pournaras; Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir.
