The 62nd Anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) served not only as a milestone to reflect on more than six decades of achievements, but also as an opportunity to strengthen strategic partnerships with national and international stakeholders. In line with this year’s theme, “Engineering Innovation for Sustainable Industry and Future Society,” a series of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed to expand collaboration in education, research, human resource development, research commercialization, and educational transformation.<\/p>\n
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that addressing future development challenges requires stronger cross-sector collaboration. According to him, universities play a vital role not only in producing high-quality graduates and conducting research, but also in bridging the gap between academia, industry, government, and society.<\/p>\n
“This year’s anniversary theme reaffirms FTUI’s commitment to delivering innovations that create tangible impact. To achieve this, we believe collaboration is essential. Through partnerships with industry, universities, and other strategic stakeholders, FTUI aims to build an ecosystem that accelerates innovation, strengthens talent development, and enhances the contribution of higher education to Indonesia’s development,” said Prof. Kemas.<\/p>\n
As part of its commitment to accelerating research commercialization, the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Indonesia has signed a Cooperation Agreement with PT Biotech Indonesia for biotechnology research and development, with a focus on commercializing stem cell products. This collaboration is expected to strengthen partnerships between academia and industry in developing research outcomes with significant potential to benefit the healthcare sector while increasing the added value of domestic innovation.<\/p>\n
FTUI also expanded its partnership with PT Siemens Energy Indonesia through a Cooperation Agreement focused on student competency development. The collaboration aims to better prepare graduates for industry by providing competency development programs, practice-oriented learning opportunities, and stronger linkages between higher education and the professional world.<\/p>\n
At the university level, Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Timor signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in education, research, and community engagement. The agreement was signed by the Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., and the Rector of Universitas Timor, Dr. Ir. Stefanus Sio, M.P. The partnership was further strengthened through a Cooperation Agreement on the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to support human resource development.<\/p>\n
The series of strategic collaborations continued during the anniversary events on 20 July 2026 with the signing of several new agreements that further expanded FTUI’s international network while strengthening its educational ecosystem. One of the key agreements was a Cooperation Agreement between Universitas Indonesia and PT Huanyu International Education regarding the establishment of the Confucius Academy Indonesia Representative Office. The initiative is expected to create new opportunities for academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and the advancement of international education.<\/p>\n
Universitas Indonesia also established a partnership with Yayasan Jembatan Bambu Nusantara Indonesia \u2013 China Center for Education and Industry Cooperation (ICC) to foster academic and industry collaboration. This partnership is expected to serve as a bridge connecting universities, industries, and international partners in advancing human resource development, research, and innovation.<\/p>\n
On the same occasion, FTUI officially received an Endowment Fund Handover Report from Yayasan Mata Air Biru as a form of support for the sustainable development of education and research within the faculty. In addition, through a Commitment Agreement with Gugus Teladan, FTUI secured support for the development of the SMART Classroom Legacy S502, further strengthening technology-enhanced learning and creating a more interactive educational experience for students.<\/p>\n
These various collaborations demonstrate that advancing engineering higher education requires the collective support of multiple stakeholders. Partnerships with industry accelerate research commercialization and enhance graduates’ competencies, collaborations with universities broaden academic networks and strengthen human resource development, while support from alumni and strategic partners reinforces the long-term sustainability of institutional growth.<\/p>\n
Through continuously expanding partnerships, FTUI remains optimistic about strengthening its role as a leading center for engineering education, research, and innovation that delivers solutions to national and global development challenges. The collaborative spirit demonstrated throughout the 62nd Anniversary celebrations serves as a tangible implementation of the theme, “Engineering Innovation for Sustainable Industry and Future Society,” highlighting that engineering innovation can achieve its greatest impact only when supported by a strong, sustainable, and mutually beneficial partnership ecosystem.<\/p>\n
