The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), welcomed a delegation from Kyushu University at the Senate Room, FTUI Dean\u2019s Building, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The meeting served as an opportunity for both institutions to introduce their respective research activities and explore potential academic and research collaborations, particularly through FTUI\u2019s Institute for Biosystems and Bioengineering (IBB).<\/p>\n
The Kyushu University delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Gde Pandhe Wisnu Suyantara, Ph.D., Coordinator of Kyudai Now Indonesia 2026, together with Prof. Noriho Kamiya from the Faculty of Engineering and Assoc. Prof. Hirofumi Ichinose from the Faculty of Agriculture. They were accompanied by several Kyushu University students.<\/p>\n
Representing FTUI were Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA., Head of the FTUI Interdisciplinary Engineering Research Unit, and Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Director of the Institute for Biosystems and Bioengineering (IBB) and Head of the FTUI Department of Interdisciplinary Engineering. The meeting was also attended by researchers from the Research Center for Biomedical Engineering (RCBE) and the Research Center for Bioresources and Valorization (RCBV), namely Dr.rer.nat. Andre Fahriz Perdana Harahap, S.T., M.T., Dr. Kenny Lischer, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Ir. Ibnu Maulana Hidayatullah, S.T., M.T., along with IBB FTUI staff.<\/p>\n
In his opening remarks, Head of the FTUI Interdisciplinary Engineering Research Unit Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA., highlighted the importance of the meeting as an opportunity for both institutions to introduce their respective research focuses, exchange ideas, and identify potential areas for future collaboration.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis meeting provides a valuable opportunity for both sides to introduce their respective research focuses, exchange ideas, and identify potential areas of collaboration in the future. We hope that this discussion will open opportunities for researcher and student exchanges, joint research, and collaborative research funding,\u201d said Prof. Widodo.<\/p>\n
In a separate statement, FTUI Dean Prof. Kemas Ridwan Kurniawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of international collaboration in strengthening FTUI\u2019s research ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The meeting with Kyushu University provides an opportunity to bring together the expertise and experience of both institutions while identifying research areas that can be jointly developed. From Kyushu University\u2019s perspective, the visit was part of its efforts to establish communication and explore potential collaboration with IBB FTUI. The meeting focused not only on exchanging information about the research activities of both institutions but also on exploring opportunities for more concrete collaboration in the future. This aligns with the objectives of the visit, which included exploring academic and research collaboration as well as learning more about the research activities and laboratory facilities at IBB FTUI.<\/p>\n
Through this meeting, FTUI and Kyushu University are expected to identify research areas with strong potential for collaborative development. This exploration marks an initial step toward strengthening FTUI\u2019s international academic network and encouraging future collaborations that support the advancement of research and innovation.<\/p>\n
