Engineering Innovation Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) will once again host the National Engineers Day (NED) 2019 held at Devan Nair Institute for Employment and Employability (e2i), Singapore from 18 \u2013 20 July 2019.\u00a0The Engineering Innovation Challenge (EIC) is open to all universities around the world. This provides an excellent opportunity for university students to share knowledge, experience and expand their network, to promote engineering and a passion in this discipline.\u00a0 Your participation in the competition will also serve to interest and excite youths to embark in the fascinating and multi-faceted world of engineering.<\/p>\n

The Challenge<\/strong>: Design and build the prototype of a portable and sensitive ionizing radiation detector capable of detecting background radiation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Criteria for Judging, please choose one of the option below:<\/p>\n

Option A:
\n<\/strong>Overall Design (Hardware) 40%
\nDetector Capability 40%
\nPresentation and Knowledge 20%<\/p>\n

Option B:
\n<\/strong>Overall Design (Hardware) 20%
\nDetector Capability 20%
\nPresentation and Knowledge 20%
\nApplication \/ Creativity 40%<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Teams are to note that the competition is based on the detection of background radiation, therefore the use and handling of radiation sources for the prototype design, building and testing should be reasonably low and accessible in everyday life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The EIC Competition will showcase selected projects for final judging and subsequently for presentation of awards on 20 July 2019 at the National Engineers Day 2019.<\/p>\n
