2 FTUI Professors and Researchers Obtain RIIM Grants

Research and Innovation for Advanced Indonesia (RIIM) is research funding given to research institutions/institutions to carry out activities to search for novelty/newness in science and technology. Potential research results are then further developed so that in the end they can be widely utilized and implemented.

In line with the president’s direction, RIIM’s funding focuses on research and innovation in the fields of food (including halal food), health and energy for national independence. In addition, it can also be open to leading research fields including nuclear power, aviation and space, electronics, informatics, earth, maritime, biology, environment, materials, archaeology, social humanities, languages, economics, and governance.

After going through selection and evaluation from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), recipients of the RIIM Batch 3 program were determined on April 12, 2023. Of the 1317 proposals submitted, 362 recipients were selected to benefit from RIIM funding, of which two were professors at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI). ).

The two professors are Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D. from the Civil Engineering Department with the research title Digitization Technology 4.0 in Green Buildings for Predicting Indoor Environment Quality and Prof. Dr. -Eng. Nandy Setiadi Djaya Putra from the Department of Mechanical Engineering with the research title Development of Passive Cooling Systems for Electric Vehicle Batteries Based on Vapor Chambers, Loop Heat Pipes, and Phase Change Materials. The total RIIM grants received by the two FTUI professors amounted to 650 million rupiahs.

“The implementation of the RIIM program is expected to increase the quantity and quality related to research, one of which is FTUI as the best educational institution in Indonesia which plays a role so that in the future there will be technological innovations that can compete globally. Furthermore, potential research results can then be developed into innovations and inventions,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU.
