26 Years of the Limatama Arkitekton: Issues on Climate Crisis and Sustainability

In the framework of its 26th anniversary, Arkitekton Limatama (A5) held an exhibition of architectural design works that have been designed and have been built. Arkitekton Limatama is an architectural consultant that was founded in 1996 where the founders consisted of several graduates of the Architecture Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI).

The founders of A5 are Toga Panjaitan, Chiquita Marina Pitono, Hefzi, Hendrajaya, Ferryanto, and Richard. The exhibition which will take place on March 4-25, 2022 at Jalan Captain Tendean No. 47, Jakarta can be visited for free.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU said that Arkitekton Limatama (A5) has produced several building works, including those located on the UI campus, such as the ILRC building, Indoor Sports Facilities. In addition, A5 also designed the Interdisciplinary Engineering (IDE) building and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences building which is currently in progress.

“The theme raised in the 26th anniversary of Arkitekton Limatama is the issue of climate crisis and sustainability. Starting with exploring the installation as a place for exhibitions, until the idea of Melting Iceberg emerged. From this concept, it is hoped that this concept will spread awareness to the public about the role of iceberg for the earth, since in Indonesia there is no Iceberg so we want to show the presence of iceberg itself. From this idea we developed and collaborated with Byoliving and MAW ldesign to make an installation. In the interior of the building or lobby, there is a collaboration with Ideland who wants to present the use of biophila in architecture, “said Dhila Syahriandy , the committee for the Arkitekton Limatama exhibition.

Eight Architects and all A5 employees participated in this exhibition. Not to forget, A5 also collaborated with colleagues from Byoliving, MAWdesign and Ideland Cipta Hijau. The main points in this exhibition are the melting iceberg installation, 25 A5 projects that are exhibited on the exhibition panel, as well as 5 project proposals. The project proposal is an imaginative work that is explored to answer several architectural problems in responding to a pandemic and sustainable situation.
