The academic or educational field is one of the main pillars of the tridharma of higher education, which is essential and requires special attention. To oversee the education sector of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU appointed Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr. as Associate Dean for Education of FTUI for the period 2022-2026. The handover ceremony and inauguration took place on Friday, January 14, 2022.
Dean Heri expressed his vision to Build Excellent FTUI Entrepreneurs with High Impact through Productivity-based Multidisciplinary Collaboration to Realize Excellent and Globally Competitive FTUI . “One of the strategic goals that FTUI wants to achieve is the realization of an education that can adapt to industry 4.0 and is globally competitive so that in the future FTUI can fully support UI to realize its vision as an Entrepreneurial University and support the success of the government’s program for the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM).”
Dr. Nyoman said that in the future, FTUI will strengthen national and international accreditation as a form of guaranteeing the quality of sustainable education. “The academic system that is already running well at FTUI will be strengthened through the development of engineering education, both degree and non-degree programs, professional programs to modernized and internationalized education. Single and double-degree collaborations will be increased, IT-based education programs, Long Distance Learning, and the adoption of the MBKM program will be developed to provide opportunities and wider access to students in developing themselves and careers,” said Nyoman.
Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr. is a teaching staff at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, FTUI. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Gadjah Mada University in the field of Hydro/Natural Resources Civil Engineering. He also obtained Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Environmental Resources from Hokkaido University, Japan. Dr. Nyoman has served as Deputy Head of UKK UI GreenMetric and Vice Chair of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings since 2011. He is also active as Managing Editor of the International Journal of Technology FTUI since 2010. Prior to his appointment as Education Manager, Dr. Nyoman is the Head of the FTUI Environmental Engineering Study Program.
