Ernst Mach – ASEA-UNINET Short-term Research Grant

A new scholarship programme within the ASEA-UNINET, the Ernst Mach – ASEA-UNINET Short-term Research Grant (not to be confused with the Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET):

Applications for the Ernst Mach – ASEA-UNINET Short-term Research Grant are open to postdoc researchers from ASEA-UNINET member universities in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam who would like to conduct a short research stay of 1 or 2 months at an Austrian ASEA-UNINET member university. Applications can be submitted on a rolling basis without deadline, however at least 2 months prior to the planned stay.

Your written consent
In the application, the written consents by the host professor in Austria, by the ASEA-UNINET University Coordinators of the cooperating universities, and by the Asian ASEA-UNINET National Coordinator have to be submitted.

We ask you to kindly discuss the research plans with the applicant and evaluate whether the planned research stay in Austria should be supported (plausibility of the research interest and research proposal, benefit for the cooperation between the universities involved, expected outcomes…). If you find that an application should be supported, please issue a letter of consent. These letters of consent do not require a specific form, but must bear:

  • the letterhead, date and signature of the person recommending the applicant,
  • as well as the stamp of the university/department,
  • and must not be older than six months at the time of application.

Funding
A monthly scholarship rate of EUR 1,150 will be offered by the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Research. Additionally, a travel cost refund of max. EUR 1,000 will be provided to scholarship holders from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. Please note that no travel cost refund will be provided by the Austrian side for scholarship awardees from other countries. ASEA-UNINET partner countries and partner universities are therefore strongly encouraged to provide funding of travel costs to support the research stays of their scholars and researchers.
