On Thursday (24/2), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received a visit from the Faculty of Military Engineering (FTM) of the Indonesian Defense University (UNHAN). This meeting was attended by Major General TNI Dr. Gregory Henu Basworo, S.I.P., M.Sc. (Dean of FTM), Colonel Sus Dr. Ir. Rudy A.G. Gultom, M.Sc., C.E.H., CIQaR (Vice Dean of FTM), representatives of four FTM study programs at the University of Defense, namely Informatics Study Program, Electrical Engineering Study Program, Mechanical Engineering Study Program, and Civil Engineering Study Program as well as FTM Administration staff.
The delegation from UNHAN was received by the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.T., IPU, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr.Eng. Arief Udhiarto, S.T., M.T., Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Agus S. Pamitran, S.T., M.Eng., Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Ayomi Dita Rarasati, ST., MT. Also present were several lecturers from the three departments.
“On this occasion, like three weeks ago when we met with the Rector of UNHAN and his staff, we have said that FTUI is ready to work together to help UNHAN. Previously, we had collaborated with UNHAN in the form of curriculum design for three study programs at FTM. The next step is to direct us to sharing facilities for laboratories, both basic laboratories and laboratories related to engineering. It could even be that UNHAN students in certain subjects attend lectures at FTUI,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.T., IPU.
The Dean of the UNHAN’s FTM, Major General of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Dr. Gregory Henu Basworo, S.I.P., M.Sc. expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that has existed between the FTM UNHAN and FTUI, “We thank you for the opportunity and willingness of the Dean and Deputy Dean of FTUI and their staff to follow up on the MoU which has been running for two years. Of course, we still have a lot to learn considering that FTM is only three years old. We hope that this cooperation will continue in the future.”
The meeting between UNHAN’s FTM and FTUI focused on two main topics of discussion. First, discussing the implementation of the UNHAN student practicum who will use the laboratory at FTUI. This includes requests for four FTM study programs that will conduct practicum. Second, regarding the accreditation information that has been achieved by FTUI, of course this is necessary considering that one of the objectives of the UNHAN FTM is to make the UNHAN FTM a World Class Defense University in 2024.
“Four FTM UNHAN study programs require a laboratory for teaching and learning activities. However, until now the laboratory is still under construction. Two years ago, Prof. Nandy introduced i-CELL FTUI (Integrated Creative Engineering Learning Lab). I feel that the concept of this laboratory is very good, so FTM will also build a similar lab,” said Colonel Sus Dr. Ir. Rudy A.G. Gultom, M.Sc., C.E.H., CIQaR.
Furthermore, the meeting was divided according to their fields, namely Electrical Engineering and Informatics Engineering FTM UNHAN with Electrical Engineering FTUI, Mechanical Engineering FTM UNHAN with Mechanical Engineering FTUI, and Civil Engineering FTM UNHAN with Civil Engineering FTUI. This focus group facilitates discussion according to the relevant department regarding the need for laboratory cooperation.
The results of the discussion from Electrical Engineering and Informatics Engineering FTM UNHAN together with Electrical Engineering FTUI are in the form of practicum adjusting the learning targets for RPS, the respective head of the lab for electrical engineering and informatics engineering, and practicum plans for two semesters. Discussion on Civil Engineering FTM UNHAN with Civil Engineering FTUI, related to the re-calculation of the number of students who will take part in the practicum due to the limitation on the number of students during the pandemic, the change in the practicum plan from March and September to a maximum of June, in the future there will be a special discussion regarding the implementation which will be directly with each each head of the lab. Meanwhile, the discussion between Mechanical Engineering FTM UNHAN and Mechanical Engineering FTUI resulted in the design of three types of practicum, namely production processes, methodologies and measurements, and engineering materials. If there is an additional practicum, it will be discussed further to adjust the syllabus.
Generally speaking, the preparation for accreditation will be carried out in three stages, namely staff training in the preparation of forms, assistance in the preparation of forms, and review of forms that have been prepared before being submitted to the accreditation agency.
