The Nanotechnology and Materials Research Organization (ORNM), is a new organization among a total of 12 organizations belonging to the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). To introduce this new organization and capture potential collaborations that BRIN and FTUI can do in the future, BRIN visited the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

The visit from the BRIN team was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc. (Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs), Prof. Ir. (Head of MODIRPEN Unit), as well as department heads and several lecturer representatives were present to welcome the visit from BRIN.

“In terms of policy and innovation research, we have what is called an open platform infrastructure. So this platform is expected to encourage us to collaborate with outside parties. So that if collaboration has been established, outside parties will be free of charge to use the existing equipment at BRIN, “explained Prof. Dr. Ratno Nuryadi, M. Eng. as the Head of ORNM BRIN in his presentation on the potential for cooperation.

The 9 universities that have become partners in BRIN’s cooperation so far are the University of Indonesia, IPB, ITB, ITS, UGM, Undip, Unpad, UNHAS, and UNS. From the discussions that have taken place, several proposals for cooperation that can be agreed upon between FTUI and ORNM BRIN have been reached, including:
1. Research cooperation in the field of nanotechnology and materials in the form of:
a. Joint Guidance in the S2/S3 Degree program by research (DBR)
b. Match-making promoter and co-promoter of DBR students
2. Registration treatment and payment time for ORNM BRIN S2/S3 study fees at FTUI

BRIN is a non-ministerial government institution that was only established in 2019 and was formed as a result of the integration of five institutions, namely the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the Agency for the Assessment of Application of Technology (BPPT), the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), the National Aeronautics and Space Agency. (LAPAN), and the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology (LBM).

At the end of the meeting, Prof. Yanuar expressed his hope for the cooperation that will be carried out between FTUI and BRIN, “Thank you for visiting BRIN to FTUI, we are ready to accept all the collaborations that have been described by BRIN. We hope that the collaboration between FTUI and BRIN can be well established in the future.”
