LPS and UI Increase Public Understanding of Deposit Insurance

In order to follow up the Memorandum of Understanding (NKB) between the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) and the Universitas Indonesia (UI) which was held on November 30, 2021 ago. LPS and UI agreed to then sign a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Education, Research, and Community Service related to the Functions, Duties and Authorities of the LPS in Jakarta, Friday (25/03/2022).

In her remarks, LPS Chief Executive Lana Soelistianingsih said, “With the PKS to be signed, it will provide more details on the collaboration between LPS and several faculties in UI. He added, LPS with a mandate as the guarantee and bank resolution authority in Indonesia requires a strategy in disseminating information related to the functions and duties of the LPS, one of which is through the preparation of a syllabus regarding the functions and duties of the LPS for relevant subjects in the study program at UI.

“Through this method, it is hoped that the next generation, especially students, can understand the functions and duties of the LPS, not only there, it is also expected to increase the interest of future generations to join as LPS employees,” said Lana.

On the same occasion, the Vice Rector for HR and Assets UI Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA., stated that the signing of this collaboration was a continuation of the memorandum of understanding signed by UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E, M.A, Ph.D., and chairman of the LPS Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa Board of Commissioners on November 30, 2021.

“Hopefully, with the signing of this cooperation agreement, it will provide more opportunities for UI to be able to fill its Tri Dharma Higher Education activities with the Deposit Insurance Corporation, especially in activities to support Independent Learning of the Independent Campus (MBKM) and hopefully, this cooperation agreement will also strengthen the optimal relationship between the duties and functions of the Universitas Indonesia and the Deposit Insurance Corporation,” said Prof. Dedi.

The scope of the collaboration includes, among others, the preparation of a syllabus related to the socialization of LPS functions and authorities that will be included in relevant courses at UI, socialization of LPS to the community through community service programs or the like, human resource development, and cooperation in the field of sciences such as research and joint studies.

Later, through the signing of this PKS, it will bridge the mutual benefit process between LPS and UI, including transfer of knowledge through UI student internship programs at LPS, joint research, and various other collaborative programs.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., said that to improve UI’s reputation, especially in the field of engineering, collaboration with various world-class universities is needed, such as the University of California Berkeley which is one of the best public universities in America. Union.

It is hoped that with this collaboration, UI can produce excellent young researchers who have strong international exposure, who are experienced in conducting research in cutting edge laboratories. In addition, this program can also encourage collaborative research and publications with UI with well-known institutions at the international level.
