UI Holds UI International Education Expo 2022 Again

Universitas Indonesia (UI) held an educational exhibition for the International Class program entitled “UI International Education Expo 2022” at Balai Purnomo Prawiro UI on Saturday, 26 November 2022. This event can only be held again offline in 2022 after 2 years of being canceled due to the pandemic . The UI International Education Expo was held with the aim of providing information about international class programs within the UI environment. Participants who attended the exhibition came from among students, teachers, and parents of students. The enthusiasm of the participants at the exhibition was very high, as seen from the number of attendance which exceeded 4,000 participants. The farthest participants from Senior High School (SMA) came from Surabaya, Cirebon and Bandung.

Secretary of the University of Universitas Indonesia, Dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., said that this event was held so that prospective new UI students could find information about international class programs held by UI and partner universities abroad. “Restrictions during the pandemic have made us aware that this situation must be overcome by making comprehensive and integrated efforts without being limited by regional boundaries. The term is a borderless solution. This borderless solution of course requires cooperation that is also borderless, be it cooperation in a multidisciplinary context as well as in other sectors and across countries,” said dr. Augustine.

There were eight booths from the faculties at UI which had international class programs for participants to ask questions directly to the faculty they wanted to go to. The eight participating faculties are the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Psychology (F.Psi), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom), Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), and Faculty of Engineering (FT). Furthermore, booths from the UI admissions department and seven foreign university booths were also available. The foreign universities present included Oregon state University, Swiss education group, Asia Pacific University, University of Adelaide (partner), University of Canberra (partner), Newcastle university (partner), and Coventry University (partner).

In addition to having booths as information media, participants could also listen to presentations from representatives of eight faculties at UI. Information about the international class program at the UI Faculty of Engineering was presented by Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC as secretary of the FTUI international office. “For now, the new Double Degree partner universities are available with Australia and Germany. But in the future we will continue to strive to establish new collaborations with partners in other countries. So that in the next two to three years FTUI can provide more university choices for international class students,” said Fadhillah.

Regarding the event, Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU commented, “With the UI international class program, it is hoped that it will be an opportunity for UI students to gain learning experience in universities around the world. So that in the future there will be superior and global-minded UI graduates who can contribute actively in solving global problems, especially in Indonesia.”

So far, UI’s international program has two acceptance pathways, namely through Talent Scouting and SIMAK UI. The Talent Scouting pathway is a selection pathway based on the academic grades of student reports that involve the role of the school. While SIMAK UI is a selection route based on a written test. In 2023, the opening of the Talent Scouting KKI program will be held in February-March while the SIMAK UI route will be held in May-June. Information regarding this registration can be accessed via www.simak.ui.ac.id and the registration page at www.penerimaan.ui.ac.id.
