From Campus to Race Track, Amato Rudolph’s Story of Balancing Studies, Achievements and Hobbies

Balancing studies, achievements, and hobbies is a challenge for some people. However, for Muhammad Aqsha Aufarahim Amato Rudolph, a student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DTM), Faculty of Engineering (FT), Universitas Indonesia (UI), the challenge is possible to conquer. With good time management, Amato managed to prove that lectures, achievements, and hobbies can be achieved brilliantly.

One of the successes of this time management is shown by Amato through his success as a talented young racer at Toyota Gazoo Racing Indonesia (TGRI). Since joining TGRI, Amato has continued to improve his achievements. Recently, he won the Sentul Series Of Motorsport (ISSOM), a national racing competition series 3 in 2023. He became the first winner of the Indonesia Touring Car Race (ITCR) 1200 class. His skills will then be pitted in the Indonesia Touring Car Race (ITCR) 2023.

During the interview, Amato shared that his racing career began in elementary school. His love for the automotive world brought him into the world of racing. However, he did not abandon his educational obligations. Since childhood, his parents taught him to balance his studies and hobbies. It is a value that Amato maintains to this day, allowing him to achieve both educational and sporting achievements.

“I believe that everything should be balanced, including education and career. I wanted my chosen major to be related to my career as a racer. Therefore, I chose UI Mechanical Engineering as my first choice so that I can understand engineering sciences to support my future career,” Amato said.

According to him, his career and achievements in racing are inseparable from his education at the UI campus. The success of his career in racing is one of the key points in his acceptance at UI because this 2020 student entered through the talent scouting route. Amato said that during his time as a UI student, he always received full support from the campus to pursue his hobby.

In addition to providing support, he considers that learning at UI teaches him to think quickly and accurately, which is beneficial for him, both in academics and racing competitions. Education at UI is not only focused on academics but also on providing competence so that students can face challenges in various fields.

“In the future, of course, I have greater hopes and aspirations. Becoming a reliable engineer is one step that can support my career in racing. Because a racer will have an advantage and be greatly helped when understanding the knowledge of the vehicle used,” said Amato.

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, appreciated Amato’s achievement. He said, “This is a clear example that pursuing an education will not

eliminate time to pursue hobbies. Amato’s hobbies can coexist with his career and studies. We will continue to provide support for all students who want to develop themselves for brilliant achievements that make FTUI and UI proud.”
