The spirit of modernization and internationalization of education emphasized as the flagship program of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) has shown its positive impact and inspired engineering faculties throughout Indonesia. One proof of this spirit is the cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering, Sebelas Maret University (FT UNS). To appreciate and share the success, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, was invited to the FT UNS Development Benchmarking Workshop, which took place on Monday (18/09) at Griya Persada Dam Hotel, Semarang.
During his visit to FT UNS, Prof. Heri provided his experience in managing FTUI so that it currently won the title of Best Engineering Campus in Indonesia based on THE World University Ranking 2023. One topic Prof. Heri highlighted was the Education Modernization and Internationalization Program.
“Our journey in managing FTUI as an engineering education institution in Indonesia has not been easy. However, this can be overcome with the enthusiasm of the entire academic community in making continuous innovations in improving engineering entrepreneurship, the quality of innovation research, service, and community service, as well as the modernization and internationalization of superior and high-impact engineering education,” said Prof. Heri.
Prof. Heri added, “The spirit of innovation has led FTUI to be named the Best Engineering Campus in Indonesia by THE Worlds University Rankings and Scimago University Rankings. This recognition is a form of validation for our hard work in realizing FTUI Unggul Berdampak.”
In further discussion, Prof. Heri Hermansyah talked about FTUI’s achievements in implementing modernization and internationalization of education. FTUI continues to invest in digital education by providing modern education service facilities such as smart classrooms. In addition, the opening of the FTUI International Office is also an important step to increase partnerships with prestigious foreign universities worldwide, to produce graduates who can compete globally and are ready to face future challenges.
“The excellent programs we run aim to have a real and superior impact on people’s lives. Of course, the vision to become the best technical education institution must be supported by the active role of the entire academic community, including lecturers, education staff, students, and alumni. They all have an important role in achieving superior achievements and bringing FTUI to the highest place as the best engineering education institution,” added Prof. Heri Hermansyah.
The spirit of modernization and internationalization of education demonstrated by FTUI and FT UNS is a clear example of how inter-university collaboration can help improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia and encourage students and academics to achieve higher.
