To strengthen cooperation in the field of higher education, the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Cendrawasih (FT UNCEN) Papua visited the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) in Depok (21/11). The visit focused on the development plan of UNCEN’s vocational school, particularly in engineering programmes.
A delegation from UNCEN led by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr Ir. Johni J. Numberi, M.Eng., IPM, met with the FTUI leadership to discuss the development plan of UNCEN’s vocational school. During the meeting, both parties agreed to collaborate closely in developing a curriculum that is relevant to the needs of industry and the labour market.
The UNCEN delegation was received by Prof. Dr Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs of FTUI. Prof. Yanuar said, “One of the important points in the meeting was the offer of cooperation from FTUI to FT UNCEN lecturers to continue their education at S2 and S3 levels. FTUI offers further education programmes with various fields of expertise in the Faculty of Engineering, allowing UNCEN lecturers to improve their qualifications and knowledge.”
The Dean of UNCEN’s Faculty of Engineering, Dr Ir. Johni J. Numberi welcomed the offer of cooperation from FTUI. He stated, “We see this collaboration as a positive step to improve the quality of education at UNCEN. The continuing education programme for lecturers will have a positive impact on curriculum development and teaching at the Faculty of Engineering.”
Met on a separate occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU said, “We are very pleased to be able to collaborate with UNCEN in the development of higher education in engineering. This collaboration is not only about strengthening our respective institutions but also making a positive contribution to the development of human resources in Papua and Indonesia as a whole.”
This visit is expected to be the beginning of sustainable co-operation between the two institutions. This visit not only creates a bilateral relationship between the two faculties but also provides a positive impetus for the development of higher education in Eastern Indonesia. The collaboration between FTUI and UNCEN is expected to contribute significantly to improving the quality and relevance of engineering education in the region.
