46 New Graduates of FT UI Engineering Profession Program Take the Engineer’s Oath

As in previous semesters, on Friday (August 23), FTUI once again held the Engineer’s Oath-taking Ceremony in the Makara 04 Smart Meeting Room, FTUI Dean’s Building. A total of 43 out of 46 engineer graduates who completed their studies this semester attended the event. These engineers officially became part of the 330 engineers who have graduated from the Engineering Profession Program (PS-PPI) at FTUI since its inception.

“The title of a professional engineer is an honour and recognition of the expertise and competence possessed by professionals in the engineering field. In this context, the professional engineer title differs from other academic degrees. This professional title refers to the formal recognition given to those who have met certain criteria, including practical experience and a commitment to high professional standards,” said the Acting Dean of FTUI, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., in his speech.

The Secretary-General of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), Mr. Ir. Bambang Guritno, M.Sc., MPA., IPU., also emphasized the importance of professional conduct in the field of engineering. “Being a professional is not just about having technical expertise, but also about a moral commitment to deliver the best in the products and services produced,” he stated. He also highlighted the significant growth in PII membership, which now has approximately 86,000-87,000 members spread across 27 engineering sectors, during his address.

Of the 43 graduates who attended the engineer’s oath-taking ceremony, 24 graduated with Summa Cum Laude honours, 13 with Cum Laude, and six with Very Satisfactory honours. This data was presented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Fitri Yuli Zulkifli, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, Head of the PPI FTUI Study Program. These figures reflect the high academic standards and the faculty’s commitment to producing outstanding engineers.

The event continued with the symbolic awarding of medals and hard hats to two representatives of the PS-PPI graduates, namely Ir. Daniel Sanjaya Sombe and Ir. Karla Karmala. The medals were awarded by Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, Acting Dean of FTUI, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs. The hard hats were presented by Mr. Ir. Bambang Goeritno Soekamto, Secretary-General of PII, and Mr. Ir. Muhammad Erpandi Dalimunthe, S.T., M.T., MKKK., IPM, Head of PII West Java Region.

After the medal and hard hat ceremony, the participants collectively recited the engineer’s oath, led by Ir. Bambang Goeritno Soekamto. The event concluded with a group photo session of all the participants who had taken the Engineer’s Oath.
