The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), sent nine administrative staff members to participate in the 2024 Indonesian Engineering Deans Forum (FDTI) Staff Course, Cohort III. The FTUI administrative staff delegates included Tutu Citra Resmi, S.Hum (Secretary to the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs), Indri Feriani, S.Ikom (Secretary to the Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration), Aryadi, ST (Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service), Aini Ayu Lestari, A.Md.K.A. (Human Resources and Facilities Unit), Abdul Hady, S.Ars. (Public Communication and General Administration Unit), Fahri Fauzi, A.Md.A.B. (Entrepreneurship and Innovation Unit), Sri Rejeki Murtiningsih (Academic Quality Assurance Unit), Afrinaldo, A.Md. (Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering), and Narisa Eka Febryolla, A.Md. (Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering).
Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Acting Dean of FTUI, expressed his appreciation for the participation of FTUI administrative staff in this event. “This training provides an opportunity for FTUI administrative staff to gain valuable knowledge from the speakers. It is hoped that through this training, they can apply the acquired knowledge to support the development of the faculty,” he said.
The event took place at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) in Makassar and was attended by 37 participants, including office heads, division heads, and other staff from various universities across Indonesia. The training program targets mid-career professionals with some experience in their fields, as well as individuals seeking to advance their careers into leadership or management roles.
Prof. Dr. H. Sufirman Rahman, SH., MH, Rector of UMI, opened the event, expressing his pride in hosting the Dean’s & Staff’s Course. He stated, “With FDTI, we hope that we will all add value to each other. In this fast-changing era, anyone who collaborates can provide inspiration, innovation, and spark creativity.”
Prof. Ir. Selo, ST, MT, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UGM and Chair of FDTI, also delivered a speech. “We organize this Staff Course to create administrative staff who can collaborate and synergize with deans and faculty management. We hope for aligned thinking between policymakers and implementers,” said Prof. Selo.
One of FTUI’s administrative staff delegates, Tutu Citra Resmi, remarked, “The FDTI Dean and Staff Course is a form of collaboration and synergy between faculty and administrative staff from various universities in Indonesia. The training provided during the event has been incredibly beneficial in developing and enhancing our understanding of roles and responsibilities within our work environment, as well as equipping us with new knowledge on how to implement change management in line with current challenges. The materials were delivered in a highly engaging and communicative manner, with ice-breaking sessions that kept it from being monotonous.”
On the first day, the event featured three speakers: Prof. Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST, M.Sc, IPM from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), who discussed Change Management Strategies; Prof. Philiphi de Rozari, S.Si., M.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Nusa Cendana (UNDANA), who covered Problem Solving & Decision Making; and Nurhadi Irbath, S.T., CEC., LCC, a professional coach & trainer from the ECC, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), who led a session on Coaching Team Work.
On the second day, the training featured five speakers: Dr. Ir. H. Mukhtar Tahir Syarkawi, MT, from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), who discussed the Application of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in Services and Innovation; Dr. Ir. M. Burhannudinnur, MSc., IPU. ASEANEng from Universitas Trisakti, who is also the FDTI Secretary-General, discussing Leadership & Communication Skills; Dr. Tutun Juhana, S.T., M.T. from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Institut Teknologi Bandung (STEI ITB), covering Paradigm Shifting; Prof. Dr. Hasniah Aliah, M.Si from the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati, who is also the FDTI Treasurer-General, discussing Good University Governance; and a representative from BRI Tamalanrea Branch, discussing Customer Service Orientation.
The Staff Course is a specialized training program designed for mid-career professionals, focusing primarily on leadership, strategy, and operational planning. In the leadership focus area, participants learn to develop strong leadership skills, including decision-making, communication, and team management. In the strategy focus area, participants gain insights into planning, analysis, and strategic implementation. In the operational planning focus area, participants learn how to translate strategy into action plans and manage resources effectively.
By participating in the 2024 FDTI Staff Course, FTUI administrative staff are expected to develop leadership and management skills, gain a broader understanding of strategy and planning, build professional networks, and enhance career advancement opportunities. This aligns with FTUI’s vision of becoming a globally competitive engineering education institution.
