The Society of Renewable Energy, University of Indonesia (SRE UI) in collaboration with the Career Development Center, Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (CDC FTUI) held a 2022 Career Talk with the theme Energizing the Future, Energizing the Youth.
This pre-event was held on March 16-17 2022 by inviting Raymond Chin as CEO & Founder of Ternak Uang, Amira Bilqis as Associate Officer of The ASEAN Center for Energy, and Fitrian Ardiansyah as Chief Executive & CEO of IDH (Green Dagang Initiative) Indonesia. At the pre-event, the theme presented was Delivers and Challenges for Green Investors. With this discussion, participants who incidentally are students and members of SRE UI can find out investment opportunities in the Green Industry sector and the challenges that will be faced.
To introduce Green Jobs further, at the main event held on March 19-20, there were speakers who were experts in their fields,

The material presented was about career opportunities in the Green Industry field that are currently needed in Indonesia and what is the broad picture of this industry. Several years ago, engineering graduates competed to enter the world of oil and gas, but now the industrial world has changed and many want to enter the world of renewable energy. According to Beni Suryadi, as Manager of Policy Research and Analytics at the ASEAN Center for Energy, in the future there will be new job fields that do not currently exist, or existing work will be done in a different way.
Citing a report from the World Economic Forum, regarding the jobs needed in the future, the renewable energy sector is one of the jobs that will be wide open compared to oil and gas.
Regarding the career opportunities that will be faced by students or graduates of the Faculty of Engineering in the future, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, in his speech said that this Career Talk is part of the journey of students or graduates to determine their next steps. “It’s good, we have careers according to the scientific fields that we have, but the reality often shows that we end up having careers outside the scientific competencies that we studied previously. Thus, regardless of career, everyone wants to be the best in their field.”
With activities such as the Career Talk, it is hoped that students or graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia, have wider information about their future career fields and provide positive and concrete knowledge and contributions to the development of Green Industry for the beloved nation and country of Indonesia in general.
