This MoU will be a stepping stone for future international collaboration plans for UI and UTAS. One of them is the plan of the UI Faculty of Engineering (FT) to open a collaborative double-degree international class program in the field of Shipbuilding Engineering with the University of Tasmania. The program will provide opportunities for students from both universities to earn internationally recognized double degrees, which will help improve their competitiveness in the global workforce.
“This year FTUI received the first batch of students for the international class program for Shipbuilding Engineering. In addition to the single degree program, we also collaborate with several partners for double degree programs, including the University of Strathclyde, UK and the Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania. Both are among the best shipping education institutions in the world,” said Prof. Dr. Heri.
Currently, the University of Strathclyde is ranked number one in Europe for Marine/Ocean Engineering based on the Shanghai University Ranking 2022 and AMC UTAS is also ranked number one in the world in Maritime Education, Training and Research based on the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) ranking.
