On the occasion of Indonesia’s independence celebration, the education staff of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) managed to make achievements at the UI Innovating Education Personnel 2023 award. Secretary of the FTUI Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service Unit (KPPM), Herra Astasusmini, S.E. won 2nd place in the UI Innovating Education Personnel Individual category for Academic Administration 2023.
The process towards this achievement was achieved after a long selection, starting from filing, and document evaluation, to offline presentations with assessors. The award was then announced to coincide with the August 17, 2023 ceremony held at the Universitas Indonesia Rectorate building.
Herra shared the background of her innovation to participate in the 2023 Innovating Education Personnel. She realized the need for an innovation that could simplify the correspondence process that has become routine in administrative activities.
“After I saw this need, I began to explore various innovations that facilitate the administrative process. Finally, I found the Autocrat add-on feature in Google Sheets. This feature is free and can help in creating letters, certificates, and disseminating seminar information online,” said Herra.
Autocrat is an add-on that makes it easy to create reports with mechanisms such as mail merge, which can be sent in Word or PDF file format directly or via email. The process of making activity permit statement letters, requests for funding assistance for student activities, requests to borrow facilities and other letters can be made by combining Google Form and Autocrat facilities. Herra has successfully applied the Autocrat feature in various activities, including the Call for Paper QiR 2023 and making visa certificates.
Furthermore, Herra hopes that her innovation can develop and be launched in the FTUI environment, especially in the Letter Numbering System (NOS). “In the future, I hope this innovation can facilitate the process of student correspondence via email to optimize administrative efficiency,” he added.

Her achievement is a clear example of dedication and creativity in supporting the educational ecosystem at UI. Hopefully, this achievement will motivate other fellow education personnel to continue to innovate for the advancement of the university and better service,” said Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.
This award is an annual UI agenda organized to give appreciation to educators and education personnel who have dedication, innovation, and achievement. In the classification of Innovative Education Personnel, the winners are divided into two, namely Individual Innovative Education Personnel and Group Innovative Education Personnel.
