The Faculty of Engineering at the Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) continues to explore collaborations with renowned universities abroad. This time the university is Osaka University, Japan, which is one of the best universities and one of the most productive research institutions in Japan.
The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out at Osaka University (14/09) by the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU. and the Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering Science / School of Engineering Science, Osaka University, Prof. Shigeo Wada. The planned future collaboration is focused on student exchange and faculty exchange activities to facilitate FTUI teaching staff and researchers at Osaka University.
Prof. Heri Hermansyah revealed that Osaka University has a strong academic tradition and interdisciplinary research, especially in the interdisciplinary field of science and engineering. In addition to expanding student exchange opportunities for FTUI graduate students, this collaboration also targets opportunities to exchange teaching staff to broaden their horizons and knowledge in various fields of science.
“This will create opportunities for FTUI lecturers to teach in different academic environments, bring new perspectives to teaching, and contribute to improving the quality of education at both institutions. In addition, this faculty exchange will also encourage collaboration in more in-depth research projects, stimulate innovation, and produce discoveries that can have a positive impact on a global scale,” said Prof. Heri.
Meanwhile, Prof. Shigeo Wada warmly welcomed this agreement. “Cooperation with FTUI is a very important step for us. Osaka University and FTUI have a long history of cooperation and each university has strong experience and expertise in various fields of engineering science. We are confident that this collaboration will lead to significant scientific achievements.”
The agreement also opens the door for students from both institutions to join exchange programs that will allow them to gain learning and research experience in different academic environments. This will help them develop international insights, language skills, and valuable professional connections.
In addition, this agreement will facilitate research exchanges between the two institutions, which will allow FTUI and Osaka University researchers to work together on innovative and impactful scientific projects. The cooperation between FTUI and Osaka University is a clear example of the globalization of higher education and research, which is increasingly important in a changing world.
In addition to Prof. Heri Hermansyah, Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Head of the Innovation Entrepreneurship Unit and Head of Reverse Engineering Center, was also present representing FTUI. They were welcomed by Prof. Hiroshi Umakoshi, Prof. Shinji Sakai, and Prof. Shinji Deguchi from Osaka University.
