FTUI sends nine double-degree postgraduate students to the University of Leeds

On Tuesday (19/9), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) carried out the release of double degree master students of the FTUI Civil Engineering Department. The students will continue their education at the University of Leeds, England. This program is part of the educational cooperation between FTUI and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation. Currently, there are also 10 students of the cooperation program from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation who are still studying at FTUI and are preparing to leave in the next semester.

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs of FTUI said, “This golden opportunity must be utilized as well as possible. Make this opportunity a momentum to learn, open the widest possible network, strengthen character, and hone leadership, and skills as provisions in building a more advanced and better Indonesian nation. Take as much useful knowledge as possible and create various new works to answer world challenges.”

Budi Riyanto, S.E., M.M., M., Mar.E. Head of Planning, PPSDMAP Ministry of Transportation RI, added in his speech, “We hope that transportation is important and likened to the veins of life. This education is expected to be the capital to advance the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, the nation, and the state. We are waiting for your service after this education.”

Met on a separate occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU said, “We are proud to release nine master students of the FTUI Civil Engineering Department double degree program who have been selected to continue their education at Leeds University. This is a bold step in pursuing increased knowledge and international experience, and we are confident that they will become proud ambassadors of FTUI at the global level. May they continue to inspire with their achievements in the future.”

Secretary of the Civil Engineering Department, Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.S.c., Ph.D. advised the students that this is an opportunity that must be utilized. The students are expected to maintain communication-related to administration, research topics, and everything faced in the UK. He also added that good communication can make it easier for students to overcome problems and challenges later.

The Head of Education of the Center for Land Transportation Human Resources Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation gave a message to students who are also employees who are successors in the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation. He wants in the era of Industry 4.0, students can overcome the issue of digitalization and automation. There are three important messages that he left to students. First, take advantage of the precious opportunity, to study in the UK and be part of the change for the country’s transportation. Second, focus on one area. Master that field and become an expert. Lastly, he hoped that the students could maintain the good name of Alamameter, the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, and Indonesia.

At the end of the event, Prof. Yanuar symbolically handed over the LoA to the double degree student of S2 Civil Engineering represented by Bria Nararya Nugraha. Also attending the event was Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures and General Administration, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, MSc., Ph.D., Manager of Cooperation, Ventures and Alumni Dr. Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Secretary of the Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit, Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.S.c., Ph.SD., DIC., Education Manager, Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., Public Communication and General Administration Manager, Tikka Anggraeni, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR.

We congratulate and wish success to nine double-degree students and one single-degree student who will study at the University of Leeds and FTUI. They include Sekar Warangi Nurcahyati, Sekar Warangi Nurcahyati, Brian Nararya Nugraha, Tina Afrianti, Dea Merta Moriska, Hendra Nugraha, Muhammad Riharizky Ananda, Indah Imayanti, Ardita Puspa Maulida, and Irfan Harja Kusuma.
