Saving Lives with a Drop of Blood, CEP-CCIT and PMI Hold Blood Donation Event

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), through its CEP-CCIT business unit, once again established an inspiring partnership with the Indonesian Red Cross through a blood donation event entitled “Saving Lives with a Drop of Blood.” This activity aims to encourage students, staff, and the general public to participate in blood donation to help those in need.

This activity was held in the CCIT auditorium of the Engineering Center FTUI building on Thursday (14/09). This blood donation activity was attended by several donors from among students and the public. In addition, CEP-CCIT FTUI also invited Polsek Pasar Minggu for its members to participate in donating blood.

“Blood donation is a simple humanitarian act but has a tremendous impact. Every drop of blood donated can be a lifesaver for patients who are battling serious illnesses or accidents. Initiatives like this not only provide much-needed medical assistance but also build public awareness of the importance of sharing and caring for others,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU regarding the event.

From a total of 32 registered participants, 23 people managed to carry out the blood donation process. The blood obtained included 7 flasks of group A, 12 flasks of group B, 3 flasks of group O, and 1 flask of group AB. Participants who did not succeed in donating their blood were due to several things, such as blood pressure and haemoglobin that did not meet the donation standards.

“The organization of this blood donation activity is a humanitarian activity to assist people in need as a form of solidarity with others. Through this activity, at least it can contribute to increasing the national blood demand. For this reason, the blood donation organized by us CEP-CCIT FTUI in collaboration with PMI is expected to contribute to the national blood supply,” said Prof. Muhammad Suryanegara, Director of CEP-CCIT FTUI.

In addition to providing an opportunity for donors to contribute to someone’s life, this activity also provides an opportunity to educate the public about the importance of blood donation in the health care system. The participants not only gave blood but also gained better knowledge of how their donations can help save lives.
