ENTERNS UI 2023 Presents Seminar on New and Renewable Energy

The Enterns Talk series arises from the urgent need to address the challenges and opportunities that exist in Indonesia’s energy sector. As the population grows and the industrial base expands, energy demand continues to rise, necessitating a strategic shift towards sustainable and renewable resources. This was conveyed in a seminar organized by Enterprise Engineering Summit UI as part of the ENTERNS UI 2023 event series. The event was held at the Smart Meeting Room of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia on Monday (2/10) offline and online through the FTUI YouTube channel.

This seminar presented Dr.-Ing Eko Adhi Setiawan as a speaker. He delivered material entitled Guiding Indonesia’s Energy Transitions: Unlocking a Sustainable Future. In his presentation, Dr. Eko conveyed the results of his experiences and thoughts, as well as innovations, related to energy.

“The character and standard of energy-related technology in Indonesia is not the same as other countries due to its geographical condition located in a tropical climate. For example, the battery life of electric vehicles only lasts 5 years in Indonesia compared to 10 years in other countries,” Dr. Eko said in his presentation. This is one of the reasons why Dr. Eko established the Tropical Renewable Energy Center or TREC.

The head of the Innovation Entrepreneurship unit, Dr. Muhamad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng. also attended the event, and said in his speech, “Indonesia, with its rich natural resources, has great potential to lead the transition to more sustainable energy. This initiative is not only about the present but also about the legacy we will leave for future generations.”

The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU said that this event provided a rare opportunity to share ideas, knowledge, and innovations on how best to achieve common goals. “With collaboration and strong determination, I believe we can open the door to a greener and more sustainable future,” said Prof. Heri.
