Adding Double Degree Partners, FTUI Explores International Cooperation with the University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is one of the universities with the best quality of education in the international arena. As one of the potential partners for the Faculty of Engineering, the Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) received a cooperation visit from the University of Glasgow (02/10) to explore academic cooperation in this case for the internationalization of education.

The University of Glasgow team consisted of the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Christina Persano. In addition to Prof. Christina, there were also parties from the University of Glasgow, namely Prof. Clare McManus and Mr. Alfin Firdaus. They were welcomed by the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST, M.Eng, IPU.

Prof. Harinaldi, Head of the FTUI Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit, opened the cooperation discussion by discussing the continuation of the cooperation prospects between FTUI and the University of Glasgow regarding the 2+2 double degree program in engineering.

“Prospects for undergraduate double degree cooperation for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering study programs. Curriculum discussions have begun between FTUI Civil Engineering and the University of Glasgow. Discussions discussed during the visit at FTUI discussed tuition fees and the potential for cooperation in student exchange programs and fee-paying study abroad, “said Prof. Harinaldi.

Furthermore, Prof. Heri Hermansyah also said, “The international class undergraduate program is one of the focuses of FTUI which can be seen from the increasing number of international class undergraduate students, which is 249 in 2023. For this reason, FTUI is looking for new partners in the implementation of international class programs. The University of Glasgow also has the same interest and welcomes collaboration in international class undergraduate programs. The University of Glasgow implements project-based programs and research-based programs.”

“The agreement reached between FTUI and the University of Glasgow is to carry out cooperation and collaboration in academics. FTUI has a strategic focus on increasing the modernization and internationalization of high-impact education. So, we as partners who also have the same interests, are very welcoming and ready to collaborate with FTUI to produce superior graduates, “explained the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Glasgow, Prof. Christina Persano.

“Of course, FTUI hopes that this expansion of academic cooperation can create education that not only focuses on quality but also innovation and impact that can compete globally,” said Prof. Heri.

Also receiving the visit were the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Yanuar, Manager of Cooperation, Alumni, and Ventures, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Head of Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit, Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, Deputy Head of Education Modernization and Internationalization Unit, Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, Head of Civil Engineering Department, Ayomi Dita Rarasati, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Secretary of Civil Engineering Department, Andyka Kusuma, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Eng. Arief Udhiarto, S.T., M.T., Secretary of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Abdul Halim, M.Eng., at the Dean’s Building 2nd Floor FTUI.
