On Monday (09/10) the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia together with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) held a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) meeting on the achievements of cooperation in the field of education in the Senate Meeting Room, FTUI Dean’s Building.
In order to observe the development of lecture activities and the academic achievements of BMKG employees who are studying at the FTUI Electrical Department Postgraduate programme, Monev is carried out at the end of each semester. Previously, FTUI and BMKG had signed a Cooperation Agreement document related to the Postgraduate Education Programme, an effort to improve the competence and capacity of BMKG human resources.
This Education Cooperation Programme has been attended by 7 BMKG employees consisting of 1 master programme student and 6 doctoral programme students from batch 2023. They are prepared to become qualified graduates to develop human resource capacity and performance as well as to develop science and technology related to meteorology, climatology and geophysics.
In his remarks Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures and General Administration said “We FTUI are very happy because for the first time FTUI has collaborated with BMKG on S2 & S3 programmes at the FTUI Electrical Engineering Department. By conducting monitoring and evaluation every semester, we hope to find out the obstacles faced by students while running this educational cooperation programme. And I also hope that this collaboration can run smoothly, and of course can help BMKG produce competent human resources.”
Dr Widada Sulistya from BMKG, responded positively to the remarks of Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures and General Administration, “We from BMKG, are also very grateful for the opportunity given by our employees to take postgraduate education at FTUI. BMKG itself has a large and ambitious programme, namely a target of 10% of employees with doctoral degrees from various disciplines. Our target is to realise 500 employees with quality doctoral qualifications by 2030, as an effort to achieve the vision of national development, and superior human resources through an integrated learning system that involves every element in the work unit. And we hope that cooperation with FTUI can help us realise this programme.”
From the evaluation and reporting of student learning activity achievements from BMKG, it can be concluded that students should be able to further improve their journal review skills, sharpen their analysis of things found during research to writing scientific journals. FTUI hopes to help guide students and facilitate and support by running workshops for programming and writing training for students. And in the future to help BMKG employees in designing research plans, with the hope that the results of this research will contribute to BMKG and Indonesia.
The Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU. said, “Increasing the collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia and the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) is a form of our dedication in producing quality education.” This Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) meeting is our concrete step to ensure the achievements of this collaboration run as well as possible. Hopefully this collaboration will continue to provide positive benefits in the development of education at the Faculty of Engineering and become a role model for other institutions. Thank you to all parties who have contributed to this effort.”
