China as one of the developing countries, in the last 10 years has initiated the One Belt One Road principle, focusing on strengthening international relations with various countries, especially in Southeast Asian countries. On Saturday (18/11) PT Huawei together with Minhang District, visited the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI) to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, research and innovation. The event was held in the Senate Meeting Room, FTUI Deanery Building.
Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, M.Eng., IPU, as the Dean of FTUI welcomed the presence of Minhang District and Huawei. “In preparation for the New Student Admission in 2024, the Faculty of Engineering Indonesia will send the Cooperation Manager and several unit heads from the department to visit several universities in China, and initiate educational and industrial cooperation, and we also hope to collaborate with universities in Minhang District.”
Representative of Minhang District, H.E. Chen Huawen, Mayor of Minhang District, Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, PCR. responded positively by saying, “We are very pleased with the offer of cooperation given by FTUI, as a university that has a good reputation in the world, we will make FTUI the main recommendation for our students to continue their studies at overseas universities. In addition, we need cooperation, both in the field of Degree and non-degree, for SMK Engineering in our district. And we hope to collaborate with FTUI in both areas.”
At the beginning of the collaboration, FTUI offered cooperation, by opening cooperation classes with Minhang District through open opportunities for Double Degree Bachelor programmes with 2+2 schemes, as a means of producing FTUI graduates who in the future can continue to work in Chinese companies or industries in Indonesia. In addition, in research and innovation cooperation, FTUI offers itself as a delegation facilitator, becoming a bridge between Minhang District in establishing good cooperation with companies, industries and local governments in Indonesia. On the other hand, for Non-Degree Programmes, FTUI has CEP-CCIT FTUI which is an IT (Information Technology) professional programme in collaboration with NIIT India.
In the future, the results of this discussion are expected to be followed up with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two parties as well as more in-depth discussions regarding the programmes needed by both parties. Through collaboration with Minhang District, it is hoped that FTUI can further expand its cooperation in the field of education with foreign partners to form FTUI graduates who are superior and able to compete in the world arena.
