Universiti Teknologi Petronas and Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia Explore Double Degree Collaboration for Enhanced Internationalization of Education

On Wednesday (12/13), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), under the leadership of Prof. Ir. Dr. Hilmi Mukhtar (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic), conducted a collaborative visit to the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI). This visit was made to explore academic collaboration in the context of education internationalization.

Prof. Harinaldi, Head of the Modernization and Internationalization of Education Unit at FTUI, initiated the collaboration discussion by addressing the sustainability of the collaboration prospects between FTUI and UTP regarding the double degree program. Currently, UTP, in collaboration with the Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering programs, is in the finalization stage of updating the curriculum structure for the double degree program and plans to explore collaboration with other study programs at FTUI.

“We see potential collaboration for double degree bachelor’s programs for Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering study programs. Curriculum discussion can begin between Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at FTUI and UTP. The discussion will cover tuition fees and potential collaboration in the student fee-paying study abroad program,” said Prof. Harinaldi.

“UTP and UI have long been engaged in educational cooperation, and we hope to establish cooperation with FTUI for a long period, considering that UTP and FTUI share the same goals of enhancing modernization and internationalization of education. We are ready to collaborate to produce outstanding and globally competitive graduates,” expressed Prof. Hilmi.

On a separate occasion, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., stated, “This collaboration is a significant opportunity for FTUI to expand its global reach. We hope that FTUI can not only establish educational collaboration with UTP in the double degree bachelor’s program but can also expand to postgraduate programs and collaborate in research to create graduates who are excellent and globally competitive.”

This visit took place in the Meeting Room of the Academic Senate at the Dean’s Office Building, 2nd Floor FTUI. The UTP delegation was represented by Prof. Ir. Dr. Hilmi Mukhtar (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic), Assoc. Prof Dr. Rosdiazli Ibrahim (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jafreezal Jaafar (Dean, Faculty of Science, and Information Technology), Mr. Mohd Faizal bin Bidin (Executive for Business Development & Academic Planning).

Meanwhile, FTUI was represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc. (Deputy Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs), Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr.
