FTUI and PT PLN Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation Meeting on the Achievement of Educational Cooperation

On Tuesday (23/01), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, together with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero), held a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) meeting to assess the achievements of their collaboration in the field of education. The meeting took place at the Smart Meeting Room Makara 04, FTUI Dean’s Office Building.

This activity served as an opportunity to observe the progress of teaching activities and academic achievements of PLN employees enrolled in the Master’s Program at FTUI. Before this, FTUI and PT PLN had signed a Cooperation Agreement related to the Master’s Education Program through the Collaboration Class, aiming to enhance the competencies of PLN employees in the development of the power system in Indonesia.

The Collaboration Class between PT PLN and FTUI is attended by 120 PLN employees enrolled in various Master’s programs, including Energy System Engineering, Electrical Power and Smart Systems, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. They are prepared to become graduates capable of developing sustainable power systems.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of FTUI, expressed, “FTUI highly appreciates the collaboration between FTUI and PT PLN in developing the competencies of PLN employees through the Master’s Education Program. This is a positive step in supporting the improvement of human resources quality in the power sector. We are committed to continuous innovation and providing maximum contribution to supporting quality and industry-relevant education.”

In his address, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FTUI, stated, “Please make the most of this opportunity to listen to the achievements and what needs to be evaluated in the future related to the special collaboration class between FTUI and PT PLN in several master’s programs organized by FTUI. Certainly, with the implementation of this monitoring and evaluation, we hope to identify the challenges faced by students during the implementation of this education cooperation program. Furthermore, we also hope that this collaboration can run smoothly and, of course, can assist PT PLN in producing and developing human resources with superior capabilities.”

After the opening remarks, the heads of the departments from the master’s programs provided monitoring and evaluation results related to achievements and areas that need improvement. Subsequently, PT PLN also did the same by presenting their version of monitoring and evaluation results.

Imam Bari, Senior Manager of Formal Education Partnership Development at PT PLN, responded positively to what FTUI has provided in educating PT PLN employees, saying, “One of the good roles we have played to improve the human resources of PT PLN is by collaborating with FTUI. We have heard many good achievements, even thesis topics have been designed, and mentors and advisors are already in place. We hope that the next steps in the study of PT PLN students at FTUI can continue smoothly and successfully until they complete their education and receive a degree from FTUI.”

From the evaluation and reporting of student learning activities from PT PLN, it can be concluded that several aspects need to be emphasized and improved in the implementation of this cooperative education program, especially regarding the flexibility of class hours because employees still need to adjust to working hours and access to journal sources, which may still be challenging for students. It is hoped that FTUI can provide solutions to these challenges so that in the future when PT PLN employees design research, it can proceed smoothly and contribute to PT PLN and Indonesia.

Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni, stated, “The learning progress of PT PLN students is very good. Actually, at UI itself, at the end of each semester, we implement EDOM (Teacher Evaluation by Students), which plays a role in assessing the performance of lecturers during one semester of teaching. For future agendas, we always hope that this collaboration class can continue smoothly.”

The event was attended by representatives from FTUI, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FTUI, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration, Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., Education Manager, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, Manager of Interdisciplinary Engineering Education and Research Unit, Dr. Agus S. Pamitran, S.T., M.Eng., Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widodo Wahyu Purwanto, DEA., Head of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Education and Research Unit, Dr. Bambang Heru Susanto, ST., MT., Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and from PT PLN, Imam Bari, Senior Manager of Formal Education Partnership Development at PT PLN, along with his team.
