FTUI Warmly Welcomes the Visit of Universiti Teknologi Petronas to Explore Collaboration in LPA Activities

On Monday (5/2), FTUI received a visit from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss collaboration in the field of research, specifically the implementation of a conference in the coming year.

During the discussion, plans for collaboration to organize an exhibition and an international conference titled Loss Prevention Asia Conference (LPA) were also addressed. The LPA event will be held in Jakarta in August 2025. The chosen timing is considered appropriate as it coincides with the academic break, allowing for a higher number of participants.

The selection of Jakarta as the location for LPA 2025 was based on the input from Prof. Azmi Mohd Shariff. He stated, “We want to make it easy for people to attend, especially from the industry. We chose Kuala Lumpur because after attending the conference, people continued their activities, such as meetings. That’s why we didn’t hold it in Langkawi. People don’t have time for vacation.”

In the previous year, LPA was also held in August, with the conference taking place in Kuala Lumpur. Keynote speakers at LPA 2023 included Datuk Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President of Project Delivery & Technology at Petronas, and Prof. Faisal Khan, Professor and Director of the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center and the Institute for Seawater Energy Security, Texas A&M University. Additionally, numerous other competent speakers contributed to various sessions during LPA 2023.

“We are pleased to receive the collaboration offer from Universiti Teknologi Petronas. This step can be a bridge for FTUI and UTP to establish good relations. Hopefully, LPA will run smoothly, and all the planned objectives will be achieved,” said FTUI Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU.

The meeting was attended by the UTP delegation, consisting of Prof. Azmi Mohd Shariff and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Risza Rosli. From FTUI, Dr.rer.pol. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T., Manager of Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service; Dr. Muhammad Sahlan, S.Si., M.Eng., Head of the Entrepreneurship Unit and Head of the Reverse Engineering Center; as well as Darmawan A. Mukharror and Ratih Luhuring Tyas, doctoral students from the Department of Chemical Engineering, were also present.
