On Monday (26/02), FTUI hosted the Mandiri Talent Hunt event organized by Bank Mandiri. Mandiri Talent Hunt is a series of seminars and recruitment activities conducted by Bank Mandiri. This event was themed “Striking the Balance: Career Prospect Between Business and Risk Sides.” Two main topics were discussed in the seminar: ODP Treasury and International Banking, and ODP Risk Management and Internal Audit. This activity was intended for the selected general public through the previous selection stage.
Bank Mandiri is a merger of Bank Bumi Daya, Bank Dagang Negara, Bank Ekspor Impor Indonesia, and Bank Pembangunan Indonesia. To date, Bank Mandiri has more than 2,000 branches and 38,833 employees. To achieve this, Bank Mandiri holds the values of trustworthiness, competence, harmony, loyalty, adaptability, and collaboration (AKHLAK). Additionally, to keep up with the times, Bank Mandiri opens opportunities for graduates from various disciplines to join, such as Architecture, Biology, and Mathematics. This way, Bank Mandiri can gain diverse perspectives that contribute to its continuous growth.
Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Venture, and General Administration, gave his welcome address, “I welcome the audience to the Mandiri Talent Hunt event. In this activity, the audience will be provided with inspiring information related to banking. This is essential to provide information about job opportunities and enrich relevant educational curricula. Later, participants can interact with competent representatives from Bank Mandiri in their respective fields. We hope the audience can seize this opportunity and become part of Bank Mandiri. Finally, we express our gratitude to Bank Mandiri for renewing its collaboration with FTUI.”
Three speakers filled the panel discussion session, namely Nina Ardianti from the Treasury Group, and A. Lazuardi and Muhammad Reza from Risk Management. In general, the three speakers shared their career journeys at Bank Mandiri, starting from graduating, and receiving scholarships from Bank Mandiri to the career paths they are currently pursuing. Moreover, the speakers explained their roles.
“My task is to manage cash flow, ensuring that Bank Mandiri’s money is sufficient. In simpler terms, I am the bank’s treasurer. Treasury has three roles: banking book, trading book, and client coverage. In my opinion, the most challenging role as a treasurer is maintaining liquidity in the banking book because it significantly impacts the bank. Not only that, providing an understanding of the current situation and what needs to be done from the Treasury’s perspective is also challenging because each area has its interests,” said Nina.
The next speaker, A. Lazuardi, said, “Almost all products in Indonesia are financed by Bank Mandiri, for example, Kapal Api and Coffeemix. As Risk Management, what we do is analyze customers and provide credit.”
The last speaker, Reza, explained his role in Risk Management, “Unlike Mr Lazuardi, who deals directly with external factors, my task is to create rules considering all impacts to ensure the bank remains sustainable. We estimate potential adverse events and their impact on the bank.”
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., said, “We are delighted to collaborate again with Bank Mandiri and host the Mandiri Talent Hunt. This activity can broaden our insights into the banking world, which not only requires graduates from the Economics Department. Hopefully, this event will be beneficial for us, and FTUI can continue to collaborate with Bank Mandiri.”
