FTUI Expands Global Collaboration with MJIIT UTM

On Wednesday (21/02), the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia welcomed a delegation from the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the Senate Meeting Room, FTUI Dean’s Office Building. MJIIT is a Malaysian higher education institution that combines the Malaysian higher education system with research methods from Japan. The delegation visit aimed to introduce MJIIT-JICA and discuss collaboration opportunities, especially in collaboration with the industry.

“FTUI has been collaborating with partner universities in Japan for 10 years and has engaged in several collaborations with industrial partners. We hope that today’s meeting can result in new collaborations with MJIIT UTM, both in academics and research,” expressed Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration in his welcome address.

“Through this meeting, we invite FTUI to join a consortium, which will serve as a collaboration platform between FTUI and Japanese industries. We also have the Sangaku Renkei Center, which will bridge researchers within the university, specifically at FTUI, with other researchers in Japanese and Southeast Asian universities,” explained Prof. Dr. Ali Selamat, Dean of MJIIT UTM.

At the end of the discussion, both parties agreed to schedule further meetings and discussions to follow up on potential collaborations in the academic field, particularly in dual-degree programs between MJIIT UTM and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering. They also discussed research collaborations involving FTUI students or faculty.

In a separate statement, the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, expressed, “This meeting will be a good starting point for both institutions to expand and strengthen global cooperation to enhance the quality of education and research on both sides, ultimately producing high-quality and impactful alumni.”
