On Tuesday (27/2), the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia (FTUI) conducted academic monitoring and evaluation for foreign students enrolled at FTUI. The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Head of the Modernization and Internationalization of Education Unit, Prof. Dr. Ir. Harinaldi, M.Eng., Education Manager, Dr. Nyoman Suwartha, S.T., M.T., M.Agr., Head of the FTUI International Office, Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, and 17 international students from various countries (Pakistan, Finland, Timor-Leste, India, Palestine, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Malawi, & South Sudan). The activity took place in the Senate Room, FTUI Dean’s Office Building.
The agenda for this activity included getting the latest updates on the academic and student life of international students studying at FTUI. Additionally, an evaluation of education, student life, and facilities was conducted based on their feedback. Various concerns raised by the international students included issues related to cleanliness and comfort of facilities, difficulties with the Indonesian language, transportation challenges, beam usage, and difficulties in obtaining information about classes.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity to express our concerns. So far, the only challenge I have faced is related to the Indonesian language. Besides that, this has been an incredible learning experience,” said Muhammad Akib Laza Shah, a student from Pakistan.
In his address, Prof. Yanuar expressed, “We appreciate all the feedback provided by current international students at FTUI. If FTUI international students want to further discuss their needs, challenges, or expectations during their studies at FTUI, please come to the International Office located in i-CELL on the 6th floor. We hope your studies can progress smoothly until the end of the study period.”
In a separate statement, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of FTUI, stated, “To maintain the quality of education and learning experiences for international students at FTUI, we are dedicatedly conducting the Monitoring & Evaluation process for 17 international students. This action reflects FTUI’s commitment to providing maximum support for the academic progress and well-being of international students, enabling them to achieve success in their educational journey within our university.”
