The Faculty of Engineering is often considered challenging for achieving a high GPA due to its complex coursework. However, this stereotype was shattered by two graduates who were awarded the title of the best graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI) at the FTUI graduation ceremony on Saturday (24/2/2024). Felix Yaman Kusuma and Rayhan Danendra Wiracalosa, graduates of the Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs, not only excelled in GPA but also brought various international awards to FTUI during their education.
With a GPA of 3.91, Felix became one of the graduates with the highest GPA. Not only excelling academically, Felix also actively participated in organizations and competitions. He was a member of the Autonomous Marine Vehicle (AMV) UI. The organization once won the Technogine 2022 competition in the Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) category, a competition at the University of Technology Malaysia, and the National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (KKCTBN).
“To achieve all this, the most important thing for me is time management. I try my best to allocate my time to studying, and participating in organizations, and competitions,” said Felix.
Rayhan graduated with honours (cum laude) with a GPA of 3.72 and received the best non-academic graduate award for the Regular S1 program. Amidst his busy academic schedule, Rayhan achieved eight impressive accomplishments, including 1st place in the Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) in 2021, 1st place in the Prototype Concept Internal Combustion Engine category in 2022, and 12th place in the Shell Eco-marathon World Championship. These achievements were accomplished by Rayhan as part of the Super Mileage Vehicle (SMV) UI.
Rayhan said, “The grades I obtained reflect my commitment to myself and my parents. However, many soft skills need to be developed as well, such as teamwork, communication, adaptation, and organization.”
“I congratulate Felix and Rayhan for being the best graduates of FTUI. I am very proud that both of them achieved high grades while excelling in non-academic fields. Hopefully, in the future, Felix and Rayhan can make an even greater impact on society and Indonesia,” said Dean FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., in appreciation.
The achievements of Felix and Rayhan led them to receive the Outstanding Graduates representation awards in both Academic and Non-Academic fields at the FTUI Pre-Graduation event held on Saturday (24/02). The awards were presented directly by the Dean and Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration.
