On Monday (26/02), the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), received a visit from Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU), Russia. The meeting was held to introduce each educational institution and discuss potential opportunities for future cooperation and collaboration.
“We are very enthusiastic about establishing cooperation with FTUI in various academic and research fields. NSTU itself is one of the leading technical research and education centres located in Novosibirsk, Russia. With 11 faculties and 2 institutes, NSTU currently has more than 14,000 students, 968 permanent faculty members, and 216 part-time faculty,” expressed Chernov Sergey Sergeyevich, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at NSTU.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FTUI, welcomed the potential collaboration with NSTU. “This collaboration will open new opportunities for students and researchers to collaborate on innovative projects and joint research. FTUI has a lot of experience in organizing international class programs with several foreign universities, especially for undergraduate levels. On the other hand, for postgraduate levels, FTUI conducts joint degree programs, collaborative research, and joint-supervision.”
One of the programs offered by NSTU in the discussion is a study abroad program for FTUI students without tuition fees. Additionally, NSTU has close partnerships with companies in Russia through project-based courses, providing direct experience and industry relevance for students. This program is planned to be opened for undergraduate and master’s students. The estimated cost of living in Russia, including at NSTU, is around USD 100-200 per month.
The follow-up from this meeting includes sending a list of researchers and staff with high index levels from FTUI to be invited to NSTU. Furthermore, NSTU will also provide a list of study programs and courses offered. This process is expected to open further opportunities for both institutions to implement beneficial cooperation programs.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UI, stated, “We are optimistic that the collaboration opportunities with NSTU can open the door to improving the quality of education and research development at FTUI. The potential collaboration between FTUI and NSTU promises significant benefits for both institutions, especially in increasing academic and research mobility.”
