UI Faculty of Engineering Flooded with Hundreds of Visitors at UI Open Days 2024

On Saturday-Sunday, April 27-28, 2024, the University of Indonesia (UI) once again held the UI Open Days (UIOD) 2024 for all education programs at UI. The event took place at Balairung for the main event and at the UI Depok Campus Assembly Hall for international class programs. UI Open Days aims to provide comprehensive and accurate information to prospective students and the general public about the programs offered by UI. Carrying the theme “Empowering Your Journey: Unlocking Opportunities at Universitas Indonesia”, it is hoped that this event can provide reinforcement in the journey of high school students to prepare for their future.

“We all certainly want to provide the best for the society, the nation, and the country. To reach that point, there is a phase to go through, which is the phase to obtain the best higher education. UI is one of the best universities in the country. Therefore, the continuation of the theme Unlocking Opportunities at Universitas Indonesia means that we want to open the door so that everyone can get to know UI, including what programs are available and how to become part of the UI academic community,” said Dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., as the Secretary of UI, at the opening.

On a separate occasion, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, expressed his appreciation for the UI Open Days 2024. “This event consists of a series of annual activities held to provide comprehensive and accurate information to prospective students and the general public about study programs, campus facilities, student activities, tuition fees, scholarships, and the technicalities of new student admissions at UI. Certainly, this event is very beneficial for prospective students and the general public who are interested in educational programs at FTUI,” he said.

Being held for the 12th time, UIOD provides information about educational programs delivered by representatives from 14 faculties, 2 schools, and UI’s vocational education program through presentation sessions. Meanwhile, other detailed information is provided through question and answer sessions available at each faculty and school booth.

UI also provides information about the International Class (KI) program, which offers double degree and joint degree programs. Currently, UI has more than 450 study programs (prodi) at all levels of education. Of these, 32 prodi are International Bachelor’s programs spread across eight faculties: the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Psychology (F.Psi), Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Engineering (FT), Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom), and Faculty of Dentistry (FKG).

The presentation session for the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UI took place on Sunday (04/28), presented by Tikka Anggraeni, S.Sos., M.Si., CPR., as the Manager of Public Communication and General Administration at FTUI. “Out of a total of 262 permanent lecturers at FTUI, 89 of them have obtained the professor title. One of them is Prof. Heri Hermansyah, who currently serves as the Dean of FTUI and is the youngest full professor in the UI Faculty of Engineering. He was appointed as a full professor at the age of 35. I invite all of you here today to join the Faculty of Engineering and to help break Prof. Heri Hermansyah’s record,” she said.

Meanwhile, the presentation session for the FTUI international programs was delivered by Fadhilah Muslim, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC, as the Head of the FTUI International Office. “The FTUI International Special Class (KKI) program has been running for 25 years since it was first held in 1999. This makes the FTUI KKI program the first international program at the University of Indonesia. This year, FTUI has opened two new international study programs, namely Environmental Engineering and Computer Engineering.”

The enthusiasm of the participants for the information offered by FTUI’s programs was evident from the full seats during the presentation sessions. Additionally, UIOD also provided an opportunity for visitors to tour the campus with the Yellow Bus (Bikun), to see the faculties and various facilities at UI. This moment also serves as a means to introduce UI as a sustainable campus. Information regarding new student admissions and presentation materials for educational programs at UI Open Days 2024 can be accessed on the ui.id/mabaui page.
