Eight FTUI Teams Secure Funding for PKM 2024, the Highest Number within UI

In 2024, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (FTUI), submitted a total of 118 proposals out of 265 Universitas Indonesia Student Creativity Program (PKM) proposals divided into nine fields. Out of this total, 18 teams successfully obtained funding from the Directorate General of Research and Technology Development, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, with 8 of them coming from FTUI. The success of these eight teams makes FTUI the faculty with the highest number of proposals funded for PKM 2024 within the UI environment.

FTUI teams succeeded in four fields: Entrepreneurship PKM (PKM-K), Creativity PKM (PKM-KC), Constructive Idea Video PKM (PKM-VGK), and Research PKM (PKM-RE), with the following proposal titles:

  1. Strategy in Overcoming Medical Waste Issues and Hydrogen Production in Indonesia Using Sunlight-Responsive Nanocomposites g-C3N4/WO3 (PKM-RE)
  2. Copper Recovery from Printed Circuit Board Waste Using the Leaching Method with Glycine and H2O2 and Liquid-Liquid Extraction with LIX 84-ICNS (PKM-RE)
  3. Cu/g-C3N4/WO3 Nanocomposite Engineering for Bacteria and Fungi Disinfection Simultaneously (PKM-RE)
  4. The Effect of Power and Electrode Distance on Formic Acid Production from Methanol Using Air Plasma Injection Electrolysis Method (PKM-RE)
  5. Injectable Alginate-Collagen Hydrogel Incorporated with Propolis as Myocardial Infarction (MI) Therapy Candidates (PKM-RE)
  6. The Green Giant Purifier: Integrated Air Filter System Using Sansevieria as an Environmental Purification Paradigm (PKM-VGK)
  7. MEANBINE (Meaningful Wind Turbine): Vertical Axis Wind Turbine with NACA 0018 Biofilament Airfoil Based on Internet of Things (PKM-KC)
  8. Moracle: Combination Energy Bar of Moringa Leaves, Okara, and Corn to Reduce Gestational Diabetes Risk and Nutritional Fulfillment in Pregnant Women (PKM-K)

In the future, the 18 successful teams will undergo three Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) stages scheduled for May, July, and August. During this process, they will receive intensive guidance from the UI PKM Center Team. After a series of reviews and evaluations, the selected teams will represent Universitas Indonesia at the prestigious National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) 37. The event is planned to be held in October at Brawijaya University, Malang.

Dr.rer.pol. Romadhani Ardi, S.T., M.T., Manager of Student Affairs, Research, and Community Service at FTUI, stated, “The Student Creativity Program (PKM) is a prestigious event at the national level. We, at FTUI’s Student Affairs, will certainly continue to provide support, facilities, and motivation to these eight successful teams. With this, we hope that the teams can maximize their potential and advance to the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) representing UI.”

“Not only as the faculty with the highest number of successful teams, but FTUI also submitted the highest number of proposals for the Student Creativity Program (PKM) 2024. This demonstrates FTUI’s commitment to supporting students in developing their potential and innovative ideas to create solutions that benefit the wider community. Hopefully, these eight teams can advance to PIMNAS and achieve gold medals,” said the Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU.
