On Thursday (2/5), the Career Development Center of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (CDC FTUI), in collaboration with Turner & Townsend, held a seminar titled UI Roadshow 2024: Career Catalyst Graduate Development Programme (GDP). The event aimed to introduce Turner & Townsend to FTUI students and attract those interested in pursuing careers with the company. The Manager of Partnerships, Ventures, and Alumni, Dr.-Ing attended the event. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, and speakers from Turner & Townsend, namely Director, Real Estate Lead Indonesia, Ben McGeachie; Director of Operations, Indonesia, Adiyatma Ramadhan; and HR Manager, Indonesia, Wanda Malviana.
Starting the seminar session, Ben provided an overview of Turner & Townsend. Turner & Townsend is a multinational professional services company specializing in program management, project management, cost management, and consultancy in the property, infrastructure, and natural resources sectors. Founded in 1946, the company is known for several major projects, including Heathrow Airport in London, The Shard in London, and the North West Rail Link in Sydney.
“For over 75 years, we have been helping to deliver transformational programs in the real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources sectors, making a difference in people’s lives and ensuring returns on investment for our clients and their investors,” said Ben.
In his remarks, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar stated, “I started my career in 1991 and was involved in a project that I considered quite large for someone just starting their career. I did design work and working drawings and accompanied the construction team in its development. Recalling this story, I felt the challenges were significant but exciting. Hopefully, what Turner & Townsend offers will also provide you all with good challenges and opportunities.”
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., expressed, “The seminar held by Turner & Townsend on preparing for success is a very important step for students and young professionals in preparing themselves to face industry challenges. Through this event, we hope participants will gain valuable insights and practical skills that will help them achieve success in the future. Collaborations between educational institutions and industry are crucial to ensure our graduates are ready to compete in the global market.”
Mr. Adiyatma delivered the main seminar material, namely Programme Strategy and Set-Up, Preparing for Success – Building the Right Capabilities and Implementation Plans to Drive Clear Program Outcomes. In this seminar, Adiyatma explained the professional career path from 1 to 5 years. In his presentation, Adiyatma shared his career experiences and how self-development processes begin with experience, relationships, and training.
In the final session, Wanda explained how to apply and start a career at Turner & Townsend. She detailed that the currently open positions are in the Graduate Development Programme for cost and commercial management and project management. This program is structured as an accelerated career path where GDPs will be provided with mentors for each project.
